@NicolasJEngler I might be wrong, but I think they're custom to the instance and only the local admins can create them

@ElfLord extremely same

@staticsafe@mastodon.zombocloud.com i keep meaning to read the Dresden Files

AWS Lambda makes me miss cgi-bin a little

Also I feel contrary but I am actually getting tired of personal computing hardware getting thinner and lighter above almost all else

@jalcine Yeah, but then sometimes this stuff ends up not being worth carrying anywhere anyway because I can't do what I want when I get there :)

Also, not for subtooting nothing, but when I see somebody complain that somebody blocked them, I also want to block that somebody just to nip that trouble in the bud.

@dustin Yeah, I usually like cases on my phones to thicken them up and protect the camera bump more.

That and I guess I have large-ish hands where my palm kind of folds entirely onto the screen when I try to grip the thin slippery lil things before applying a case.

Sometimes I wonder if in a decade or so, the trend for disposable & thin things will flop over into durable & thicc things becoming the fashion.

@ed_packet Heh it's easy to forget about our old friend survivor bias :)

I am an odd duck. When I play video games, I feel bad that I didn't get around to making things. When I'm making things, I feel bad that I didn't get around to playing video games. Oh yeah and I feel bad that I didn't get around to making other different things. Maybe I just feel bad a bunch for no good reason.

After a day or two of watching the Alf marathon on Twitch, I've got the theme song solidly stuck in my head

I regularly get email from Official Sounding Randos telling me to change or IMMEDIATELY REMOVE links in 12-year-old blog posts. This only makes me want to neglect those posts harder.

@darius Let us know if you see the old stick-and-hoop-rolling game next!

@sivy Sure... though I'm not sure how it works for the python support. For node.js-based projects, glitch will run whatever is the "start" script in package.json, which can be just about anything.

Also, under the "Status" button, there's also a "Console" button that opens up a full bash shell

@sivy You have to click Status first, should get something like this console at the bottom of the browser

@sivy Yeah, if the magic restart stuff works for python like it does for node, it's a pretty fun little tinkering environment

@sivy Yeah, not automatically. But, if you click the project name in upper left, then Advanced Options, there's button to manually Export to Github. That makes a glitch branch that you can create PRs or merge from

@sivy Oh and there's also a keyboard shortcut to Export to Github (click the upper right fish to see a button for other handy shortcuts)

@sivy I will say the UI is kind of a point and click adventure in parts until you get used to it heh

@sivy You don't, really. You just create a new file and put slashes in the name. But there are no folders to, like, expand & collapse though :/

@sivy Kind of annoying, but I think intentional to encourage small projects

@scottnesbitt@mastodon.social Apropos of this, I just wrote about how I switched *back* to trying WordPress after a few years of Jekyll and Jekyll-likes :) typing.lmorchard.com/2018/09/2

I keep thinking I should get around to learning me a Haskell.

I also keep thinking Haskell is a running joke between programmers to see how many technobabble names they can come up with about expressions & constructs

@sublimemarch I'm kind of trying to do that too. I used to be hooked on Google Reader, too, so also I have Tiny Tiny RSS on a list similar to yours

@sublimemarch FWIW, I'm also kind of fond of NewsBlur newsblur.com/

Firefox Color 2.0.0 has arrived!

I pushed the deploy button on this one, myself.

Worked on this a bunch over the summer. Streamed myself on Twitch adding custom image support. We revamped the UI, added in some new theme properties. There's even a theme randomizer now.

color.firefox.com/

I love the smell of cancelled meetings in the afternoon.

@ky0ko Oh that's really weird & shouldn't happen! Maybe it's still somehow installed? Do you happen to see if if you go to about:addons in the address bar?

One feature I really like about Firefox Color is that you can share themes via URL. You can even preview the themes on browsers other than Firefox.

But, hardly anyone uses it according to the metrics we're seeing.

Guessing that means either it's just not something folks want to use. That or it's something folks don't realize they can do because we haven't made it obvious enough.

@ky0ko Hmm, now when you close about:addons, Firefox Color should be gone. (To make undo possible, it doesn't actually uninstall until after the page closes)

You probably have to go into Customize... in the hamburger menu to pick a different built in theme after that

@neon Yeah, that's a good point. We had a burst of folks on Reddit and forums sharing color combos in the first week or so, then it trailed off

@ky0ko Huh, yeah that's super weird and not good. I haven't heard of that being an issue before though :/ I'll poke around a bit to see if I can get it to happen

@wohali Yeah, I think that's a common case too. We may some day end up rolling this into Firefox itself as an advanced theme editor, so you could go even darker heh
