My CPAP machine periodically emails me to tell me I'm doing a good job sleeping. (A gold star for me!)

It knows this because it spies on me for the insurance company.

@ondra Basically. They say they won't pay for it unless it's "necessary" as proven by usage. If usage slips, they send me a letter and a bill
