So, I went back to the workbench to try hooking up a speaker and power to my attempt at an Atari Punk Console.

All that happened is that the 556 timer chip got really hot and I think released its magic smoke. Done for the night, I think.

Huh, the VOD of my stream got a chunk muted.

Turns out that when I was playing music from Chrono Trigger, they thought I was playing this song that sampled Chrono Trigger.

Which, I mean, I'm not sure I'm even mad?

An update on yesterday's Atari Punk Console efforts: I did not let the magic smoke out of the 556 chip. However, I did have the chip backwards in the circuit despite having sworn I'd checked it 10 times. Doh.

Good news - it makes awful noise now!

Derp. Somehow lost the audio track in converting the video - which alas is the best part. Maybe YouTube will handle this better
