In case you're still wondering why / angsty about how Mozilla broke all the addons in Firefox, this is a very detailed explanation of how it was not a snap decision but an near-inevitable outcome toward which the project was grindingly dragged over the course of many years.

@xerz Yeah, I hate to be too dismissive or snarky, but a lot of the loudest push back at the time was like "I don't care, keep my addons working but also go faster and stop things from breaking" and we were like 🤦‍♂️

@tees Heh, I too become more aware of impermanence. And I also have an offline music library that I've kept going & backed up for like 15 years now.

I'm also aware of the impermanence of my time, so I tend to listen to Spotify because it's here now and I don't have to keep it going or back it up until it disappears.

@tees (of course I'll be sad if / when I lose my dozens of playlists...)

@tees Part of my offline library, too, was the result of ripping about 1000+ CDs one-by-one over the course of a few months. So, I definitely felt the effort in that.

Some of the CDs are no longer readable, but I have the MP3, but wish I'd gotten FLAC, and... well, all that and I can just pop onto Spotify because very few of my CDs were rare
