This might be a weird question for writers, but: For folks whose first drafts are handwritten, how do you manage the pages? A notebook for each idea? Loose pages? A notebook with fragmented runs of pages for each idea?

Like, I'm playing around with different ideas for stories & essays and I can't just stick to one until it's done. The one thing I'm trying to do is develop a habit carving out regular time for writing. No idea what I'll feel like writing. Might continue something, might be new

And for as much of a techno-fetish I have, I think I'm learning that writing with paper & ink is the best for defending me from the activation of my ADHD ferret brain and effecting some modicum of focus. I can type and edit later.

When I was in Jr. High & High School, I wrote a lot more. But I had like an inexhaustible supply of spiral bound notebooks around. I'd write a bunch, tear out the pages, throw them in a folder. That would roughly collate coherent things together.

But now I'm picky and like nicer paper. And I'm not going to tear out the pages of a Leuchtturm notebook. Maybe I should just amass a few tons worth of Field Notes and fill all those up

@lordbowlich Yeah, I'm thinking that might be a good way to go with some nicer notebooks. Just fill pages, let it be a bit of a jumble but use the index to tie pages together

@natalie oh boy, that gives me some kind of feeling

@codl I feel like that time was measured in milliseconds

Just got back from the grocery store. All but two people were masked. Also got over-enthusiastic for the weather and wore a hoodie. Too warm for a hoodie. Also wore glasses instead of contacts. Forgot that being sweaty & masked makes my glasses fog up and shoot off my face.

@codl Hmm, I did have a Chumby myself. It was neat to have a clock I could SSH into

tl;dr: it's rough having a physical instantiation but it beats not having an instantiation at all
