@emma @jrconlin @mhoye@mastodon.social Adding to my list of future band names:

"Cult of the Corn Guns"

@kolbychez Your experience may vary, but FWIW mine is the surly Gen X 90s-grunge-era barista that we came to accept as not "the help" so much as a reluctant service provider not to be screwed with.

@socketwench @kolbychez @socketwench This was also my experience in, like, Canada and the UK for many years. But yeah, my other toot notwithstanding, I think folks in the USA are poisoned by a certain expectation of being treated especially well as customers

@derwinmcgeary "this century" was actually kind of pushing it for me 😅

@whiskeysailor right on daddy-o

May the Fourth be with you and Death to all Skywalkers for the good of the galaxy (no seriously)

The context for this little rant is how disgusted I was when Luke Skywalker CGI'd his way onto The Mandalorian, which I had been really enjoying as a Skywalker-free zone up to that point

@technomancy have a cola and smile, my sibling in christ?

@cosullivan "it's got electrolytes"

@c0debabe @craigmaloney The real kicker is you have to install the plugin in your neuralink

@rantingsteve BRB, crafting a new toot to burn to CDROM

Whew, sudden flashback to when Macromedia absolutely dominated my early career

macromedia.fandom.com/wiki/Mac

And an especial time-vertigo moment for Director 5, which I used as part of a multimedia collab between the compsci and the art departments in college as a senior year project in 1997

Like, back then, having computer people and art people doing a thing together in 1997 was a weird Special Topic at my school just as the web was kind of taking off

@craigmaloney I wrote an IRC client in a Java applet once hahahahhaaha

@epoch@tilde.zone @craigmaloney yeah, I ended up writing a little port redirection server in Java to go with it that ran on the same domain. This would have been back in 1997 and I was a webmaster trying to keep Apache running on like a packard bell pc running Linux :blobsweat:

@mhoye@mastodon.social same same

Still thinking someday I want to get a tattoo that reads "astra mortemque praestare gradatim"

@crwbot Now I kinda want that whole sticker as a tattoo!

@mdhughes I have that on vinyl from when I was a kid, it's amazing!
