The Orchard Garden: when youā€™re here, youā€™re family, because we are not allowing anyone but family into our garden right now thank you for understanding

@craigmaloney @c0debabe no bread sticks, our sourdough starter stopped

@qdot finally crocs are cool and masculine

@n8chz that's between you and your god and whether you thought that was a bad joke

Tonight's writing exercise turned into some Utopian fanfic borrowing from @Ada_Palmer's Terra Ignota books

I think my coffee is winking at me, but it looks a little pained

@jaredhirsch oh I should check that out! Iā€™ve been using S3 for this stuff since forever and havenā€™t gotten around to trying other options

So I found myself looking at some self-help and productivity tip books and I found ā€œEat That Frogā€ by Brian Tracy. It has this quote highlighted by folks on Amazon, which tells me this book is absolutely a recipe for pain for me.

Like, haha buddy, I have wrecked my ship of executive dysfunction upon this reef so many times over the decades.

Oh, get a focus? Just get a focus? Why don't I strap on my focus helmet and squeeze down into a focus cannon and fire off into focus land, where focuses grow on focusies?!

@mdhughes heh, thatā€™s one of my favorite books and the zipheads are like body horror to my brain

@mdhughes like when I get into an uncontrolled hyperfocus spree, I really remember that book :blobsweat:

@splash730 Now I kind of want to write a book for which this is the cover

@brainwane Hmm, Iā€™m through the third, but I donā€™t think it should spoil anything really past the general Utopian Hive Oath. I think that comes up pretty early on though

This is a fun ranty breakdown of whyfor we have /bin, /usr/bin, /usr/local/bin, /opt/bin and all the rest under various Unixes

lists.busybox.net/pipermail/bu

Just got done with a meeting and I almost involuntarily muttered "madre de dios"

I don't generally speak Spanish, but I guess one of the subprocessors in my brainmeats does

@randomgeek "have you tried a todo list or a bullet journal?"

Hahaha let me show you my system for 1x functioning

@randomgeek I feel like most of my last few years have been spent finally coming to terms with how screwed up my sense of realistic expectations have gotten after absorbing decades of "ONE WEIRD TRICK"s

@logoninternet@mastodon.social Ah yes, the triumvirate of fastly, cheeply, and goodly

@randomgeek shit same same

@efi I mean, that is an occasional failure mode into which my brain threatens to shift, but yeah it's not particularly a key to my success IMO :blobsweat:ā€‹

@erinbee I'm married to an archivist who is not a librarian, so I appreciate these distinctions.

Also not Canadian, but we lived in Michigan within reception range of the CBC and vacationed regularly in Toronto

@pixelpaperyarn Hmm, maybe some Brasso or some contact cleaner? I've used a Q-Tip and Brasso to scrub similar things and (ill-advisedly sometimes) electric contacts before

@darius I love this town

@darius I mean I think I've also seen stuff like that in Detroit, but also I love this town

@pixelpaperyarn Ah, yeah, oddly enough I think rust removal is one of the prescribed uses for WD-40, as opposed to nearly all the uses my Dad put it to when I was a kid

@darius Also I think I saw a forbidden Gnome ritual a few years ago on one of my neighborhood walking routes

So, lately I've been putting off my little writing exercise until just before bed. Trying it today before dinner. I'm not entirely sure what this is about, but there's a rich guy trying to make friends with crows
