@natecull@mastodon.social @jalefkowit I want to say Dan Simmons' Hyperion books featured instant-travel portals in wide use between planets to the point that some super wealthy families had mansions that spanned multiple star systems between rooms

@yojimbo @mhoye@mastodon.social @natecull@mastodon.social @jalefkowit Yeah, that story challenge got dealt with pretty interestingly in the Hyperion books (light spoiler) as it turned out there was a big catch involved in the portals that stitched together 100s of worlds and then what happened when the portals stopped working
I don't really but also I do kind of want these BackTraxx collections of muzak from Digital Juice for use in media productions
Also, been meaning to post a writing habit update to my blog: the little daily flash fic scenes have stopped for now, because Iโm putting the word count toward the first draft of a single short story.
Not sure if anyone has been reading or missing the month of tarot-prompted exercises I posted, but Iโm hoping to actually finish a whole story soon for the first time in like 10 years.
I know there's some future-shock apprehension and fraught times ahead for this machine learning stuff.
But I see things like these image generators and I'm kind of excited to someday soon pair up with a machine and daydream & doodle?

Whenever I see a fantasy movie, I'm like who the fuck lights all these torches and candles everywhere?
@ieure Ohhh, I forgot a cabaret version of Star Wars existed
@ieure oh wait no no no I didn't forget anything
@ieure Ohhh nice... A part of me really wants a Tempest cabaret someday
@ieure I have a Tempest upright, but itโs only worked for about 4 hours over 7 years Iโve had it. Ugh. Keep meaning to carve out time to repair it (again). I think I got it for $900 as a project back then :blobsweat:
I think this will be a good book for dial-up BBS fans
