I've wanted Firefox Accounts to come with web hosting for years now. So, part of me reads this and goes heck yeah: "you’re prompted to join the Fediverse ... by creating a Firefox account, publishing as @username@firefox.com"

But, the tech isn't the hardest part. A thing that would be hard yet valuable is if Mozilla slowly built up a space with active moderation - i.e. not just "Mozilla opens yet another enormous public Mastodon instance with a client built into Firefox" but also "Mozilla explores moderation tools and policy through careful growth"

I know Vivaldi opened a public instance not-quite-integrated into the browser. I've seen a few moderation problems and defederation reports versus that instance. Some of that seems to be bad actors using throwaway accounts, some are just plain jerks. Would be neat if Mozilla could avoid repeating that sort of thing, with a semi-neglected instance except with a great client.

@phreakmonkey @mav i’m also especially peeved by “human friendly” relative times rendered at one point in time and then not kept updated. So it might say “12 minutes ago” but that itself was last updated an hour ago

That face when I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 on sale at the beginning of a vacation with the expectation of sinking into a hyperfocused deep RPG experience but instead I uninstalled that and got pulled back into Vampire Survivors and friends

@dria I had considered returning it but then found I'd played it for 2hrs 15min, just slightly too long 🤷‍♂️

Update: I also added Tiny Rogues and Soulstone Survivors to my cart. This looks like walking into an arcade

@andybaio This makes me think someone should pioneer a form of hellbanning / shadowbanning where the user is isolated from the real network and just given a bunch of machine learning bots with which to argue
