@nasamuffin inorite? oof

@maya mmm, feasting

Anchovy updates will become more scarce as things 🤞 continue to go well. She’s eating, taking meds, chilling out by herself for now. An update for today, though is she got a new indoor heating pad

We want to introduce Anchovy to the rest of the orange cat gang here. But, she's currently so frail & skinny that we're afraid even one playful tussle might be really hazardous for her. She needs to go up a weight class or two before that.

Meanwhile, the oranges don't seem too stressed by her presence behind a door, despite all the weird smells coming out of there and our occasional comings and goings in the room. I think Cosmo has seen her a few times, but he hasn't done anything dramatic.

@christi3k Yeah, I'm really hoping that near future pictures have her more closely approximating a spherical shape

Sending this out to the universe to manifest: I'd like to have drinks with my wife at a table in a dim cocktail bar playing shoegaze all night and neither of us catches a virus.

You ever have a streaming service throw a long advertisement at you after majorly glitching on serving up any real content and you’re like “you jerks didn’t earn that ad”

@twipped Oh yeah, that part too! A bit horrific, though I'm glad somebody else read it too heh

Hey, do you like space shoot 'em ups? Quick XP power-up progression roguelites? Don't own Nova Drift yet? I've put about 40 hours into it so far. I think it rules and it's on sale right now. store.steampowered.com/app/858

Checked on Anchovy before bed. I think she likes the heating pad. Gave her a pet and she chirped at me before passing back out

@mjgardner @anildash @andybaio @NanoRaptor oh man, yeah I had one of those stuck onto my 64C, and it was great for GEOS. I also seem to remember loading some utility wedge that let me use it for cursor keys in the BASIC editor too

@ben @Polychrome I’m taking my break. (enters a Sargophagus, drains all the life out of that one guy who keeps asking me to check in the back)

@janl uff da

@thegibson Whoa, resin printers just seem not real to me

@robdaemon oof, hope you evict the virus soon :/

@sindarina @e_er1n I gotta cultivate that scarcity to drive up the no-fudge-toking prices! At least that's what the webinar told me I had to do

@wynlim Yeah, I think I am admittedly asking for specifically a lot

@sindarina @e_er1n Heh, I think it's a "me forgetting what I said last toot" thing and also being bad at descriptions.

@sindarina @e_er1n Hmm, but yeah: She's totally a brown tabby with like white socks! I might just shift over to using that

I appreciate the role played by folks who figure out how things can be broken, especially if they can help improve things.

On the other hand, I really don't get folks who see a thing that can be broken, break it, and then are like "praise my cleverness and wit, for I have done you a favor by breaking the thing. I have saved you from someone nasty who might have broken it instead."

Also sometimes there are things that can be broken - and trust us, we know they're fragile - but we just, like, you know, try not to break them. Sometimes nice things are fragile.

Like, did you know: If a thing is possible, you yourself don't need to be the agent who explores the possibility space? It's entirely feasible to imagine outcomes and not demonstrate them.

And, like, if enough people who know a thing is possible also don't do the thing - the thing doesn't actually happen on its own?

We're all very tired and disinclined to crown you with Internet Points because you were the one to poke a stick in the hole and make the thing catch on fire. Yes, it's very creative how you're hopping and pointing at it while it burns. Now go away. Someone has to clean all that up, and it's clearly not going to be you.

Don't get me wrong: Sometimes a thing on fire is nice and fun. But sometimes that thing was a couch on which we were trying to relax.

@abr Yeah, this is a pretty broad-spectrum mini-rant

Have you considered... digging up?

"Protests aren't meant to be convenient," I cry, as I smear chunky peanut butter on all the DDRMAX pads in the arcade

@nasamuffin true, true

@TechConnectify @ernie Started watching this video and I was like "no no no I don't want to type on glass", because all-touchscreen laptops are a thing I kind of fear becoming the standard at some point in the future.

But then he put the physical keyboard on the glass and I was like... oh, go on...

(guess i'm just vehemently agreeing with what you've both already said 😆 )

@MichaelKlamerus I am curious about this too... like, part of me wants to tinker with some machine learning models trained exclusively on my own writing so I can remix & plagiarize myself

There's a part of me who wants to feed all of Sinéad O'Connor's music from the 80s & 90s into a machine learning algo and just let that wail generatively into my ears for a few days

Like, I don't want to sell a Sinéad O'Connor bot product and I already have all her stuff on CD. But, I just want a private little play-pretend parallel universe where she felt like continuing to make that music (and I know there are plenty of reasons why she did not feel like that)

I would love it if reporters started asking elected officials "So, just what is it... ya do here... anyway?"

@danhon The season starts earlier every year, doesn't it

@erikaheidi oh no, i have used all of these

@rickenharp Oh man, I totally forgot about that thing. Now I've been listening to this chopped up version of Jerusalem by Sinéad O'Connor for like 20 whole minutes eternalbox.dev/jukebox_go.html

@mathowie The Sony looks more ✨ aesthetic ✨ though

Yeah, if you're implementing ActivityPub for a blog, it's a lot more of an active protocol than RSS. (tl;dr: followers don't poll, you push to followers)

You'd need a service to accept follows at an inbox endpoint, then a system to send out the POSTs to followers' inboxes when a new entry shows up.

If you're in for a penny, might as well go in for a pound and accept responses as blog entry comments too
