@capnseasick That would be kind of a neat trick, though

There was a big AMA-style meeting at work this morning. I connected 10 minutes early in Zoom, muted, and went about my morning.

Then the meeting started with "OKAY FOLKS LET'S GET STARTED" - but by that point I'd entirely forgotten about the meeting, had Zoom in the background, and just about leapt out of my skin.

@jrconlin Oh yeah, that would have helped to at least remind my ADHD brain that I had an ongoing thing happening

@atomicpoet@mastodon.social A funny thing is that most of the idea of Twitter came from paving the cow paths of users early on, so I guess the idea goes on with the users regardless?

Going on pager duty next week for a few weeks, so I'm feeling highly inclined to slack off today.

@rtyler @josh That's definitely one of the features that I thought at the time should be advocated-for & evangelized, not excised because of the usage metrics. Same for Live Bookmarks, which I used to build an in-browser feed reader at one point.

@mathowie there's coffee all over my monitor now

My wife & I have been on a binge of Supernatural lately. So, when I got a new NAS this week, like a dork I named it "Castiel" because it's the angel who watches over our files or some shit

Also I can hear Castiel intoning, gravelly, "Why do you want me to stare at these files? You have too many photos."

The most important thing about having acquired a new NAS is that Catsby has a new box

Also sorry for the heavy breathing vibes in the audio, smacking a cat butt is apparently heavy labor

The Catsby-butt smacking had been already in progress for about 10 minutes before I decided "oh hey the internet might like to see this"

@jpf Tempted to assign some MLK recordings as my PagerDuty alert sound

@mathowie Man, it would be kinda neat to just have like little ambient wall hanging displays tuned to a bunch of different views like this

@joshua Picked up a Synology 723+, been happy with their NASes for a bunch of years and this one seems a nice upgrade

@socketwench @thegibson the true cowardly corpo lurks in the shadow and does not call attention :ablobpeekjohnny:

Thinking about tinkering side projects... seems like node.js is good for stuff I want to share hosted on glitch to be easily hacked at. But to share something meant to be portable & used, golang seems better? (rust too, but I could use the golang practice)

The whole single-binary thing for golang is neat. Want to play some more with this notion of embedding all the assets for a web UI right in the binary too.

I got to a "hello world" with it, before the holidays, but haven't circled back to it. Makes for a nice little self-contained personal server thingy

Enn eff tees 😂

Remember when Marc Andressen said “ITS TIME TO BUILD” and then they gave a bunch of money to the folks building Dookie Dash, an NFT-gated endless runner game where the goal is up an ape’s anus?

re: Enn eff tees 😂

Like, "SORRY MARC HIT ME UP LATER ABOUT THAT INFRASTRUCTURE & HOUSING INVESTMENT I'M TOO BUSY MINMAXING BOOST STRATS FOR MY HOVERBIKE APE TO MAKE GOOD ON MY $3K OUTLAY FOR THIS SEWER PASS"

re: this might be a good name for a Culture ship (Iain Banks setting)

re: Enn eff tees 😂

oh sorry, it's not a hoverbike, it's a submersible bike that takes $3000 to play - minus the fee to pay someone else to play on your behalf, which is the real pro strat. sounds like the going rate is about $1 per 1000 points, so that 150k top score is a steal

@e_er1n pro move with the wipers, though, tbh

If I worked in an office, I'd microwave fish and blame macroeconomic headwinds
