Pretty great that Austria got through to the final with this bop about Edgar Allen Poe

@rafial That's a mighty fine drink

So, I did buy the new Zelda and I see everyone on my Switch friends list is also playing :D

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Stupid Physics Trick that I can't believe worked to get me across this lake.

@PhilippBayer Probably not :blobsadleft: Nintendo isn't really known for discounting their big games, at least not until the next console comes out

@bikepedantic I’m always a lil happier when I see someone cruise past on the clunkiest big cargo e-bike with full panniers and maybe a kiddo or two

Morning routine with breakfast, writing, and cats. Maybe I should stop calling this table a writing desk, since it’s 75% cat bed these days

My Mom sent me a picture we took together back in 2019. I am baffled by the passage of time insofar as my beard was mostly black and not grey, back then. Now it's the opposite.

@hellsop Eh, I'd dye it all purple before I touched that stuff

I don't wanna work
I just wanna bang on the drum all day*

*play legend of zelda; watch tiktok; write stupid crap

@wraithan @onelson@mastodon.social oh, i also want to go watch birds and squirrels 🤔

I just keep watching this over & over. More videos need a Rob Zombie soundtrack

@jrconlin @mookie PROTEIN FROM THE SEA, LUKE

Huh, I think I just fixed a performance issue in a toy app using sqlite by moving the database from an nfs mount to a local drive. Like 10000ms to 10ms improvement.

But, until just now, I forgot there was an nfs mount involved.

:headdesk:

Like, I was playing with explain query plan and indexes and just general brow-furrowing... then I noticed what drive it was on and decided to go touch grass for awhile

@nocoursewalks Yup, sqlite has JSON functions that work in generated columns - and you can create indexes on them. Including full text search indexing 😁

@craigmaloney sounds like an opportunity to tour with Ministry

Inexplicably, I got the Mindmeld mix of "Think" by Information Society stuck in my head today.

I had the single ripped from CD on my home file server. Bought that single back in high school, the original disc sitting in my basement right now.

Luckily it's on YouTube too, though

InSoc had a lot of amazing remixes and b-sides on singles.

Like this one, "Strength", is probably one of the best songs from the Peace & Love, Inc era

@robdaemon Such a great album!

@thestrangelet What if I told you there've been two new albums since hello world? 😀 ODDfellows is pretty good!

Ooh yeah, I am reminded that InSoc also has a new album with some of their old funk crossed with Emergency Broadcast Network style sample fun

Wherein I finally get around to pushing a blog post out of drafts:

"Using SQLite as a document database for Mastodon exports"

blog.lmorchard.com/2023/05/12/

Today I learned the marketing term “social listening” which sounds like a shady sanitization of eavesdropping & surveillance - and apparently there’s a minor panic over discord servers being “invisible” to marketers and Gen Z disappearing from their dashboards. 🙃

This makes me want to laugh and pony up for Nitro
