@randomgeek yeah I’m not going up there any time soon
Pro tip to past self in Zelda: four rockets on one minecart is too many rockets
Okay, one rocket and some fans on a minecart is dicey but I didn’t die 🚀🥵
Also, in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, I don’t think this Skyview Tower repair bird person ever actually repairs anything?
@newplagiarist I’m getting that too, and I’m trying to decide if it’s because B/A/Y/X are all swapped versus the Xbox controller I’ve gotten used to lately for other games?
@konstantin ah yeah, fair point on the cw. Also i know some folks are filtering all the zelda chatter, so there’s that too
Was listening to a podcast episode with advice on how to make new friends as an adult. It was all basically impossible feats (for me anyway), like:
Consistently go to meetings of a book club or an interest group. Pick a coffee shop and go there at least once every week on the same day. Become a regular at a bar. Go for walks every day and say hello to folks you see repeatedly after awhile.
I mean, I can only be consistent about things if either/both a) my life depends on it, b) missing it terrifies me. And it's a dubious chance even under those conditions.
If I could manage to arbitrarily do the same thing at the same time over a reliable span of duration, there's so much else in life that wouldn't be a problem. 😅
@lordbowlich 🤔 Actually now that you mention it, I have been pretty consistent about tossing peanuts to crows on my not-quite-daily walks and they seem to follow me for the whole 3 mile route now. So maybe it's just people I can't manage
@kissane "confidently predicting that the entire static web will be replaced by LLMs"
I'm endlessly fascinated by folks who think language models will replace authors.
Like, where did the training for the models come from? What happens when original material for training dries up? Just the generated-text equivalent of mic feedback, I guess?
That thing where I wrote a sci-fi story about an AI chatbot back in 2013 that lately I keep thinking might come true sorta?
@csaetre Aw, thanks a bunch!
So I just realized that I was storing some rolls of thermal paper for my Game Boy Camera printer in that 120F attic. Oh well. :blobsadleft:
@elithebearded Heh, I think that's also a good question - maybe different folks have different ideas of what "friends" mean.
A lot of time when I think "friends", I don't think pleasant casual acquaintance. I think mindreading-mutual-braindumpers and weird shared memes. Which I think is not the usual definition maybe
Also, are "friends" electric?
@robdaemon Great big :oof:!
@rhosyn "Con artist against the machine" doesn't read as well on linked-in
@voltur Can you hear us back there in 2007?
@Kye It was kinda funny how Stargate SG-1 went from plucky band of adventurers to Star Trek with godslaying to one-way trans-galactic travel to "there's a semi-regular hyperspace shuttle back to earth from atlantis"
@Kye Oh yeah! I forgot about that haha
@Kye I'm pretty sure if Stargate Universe had continued, they would have found some way to play yo-yo with entire star clusters and jaunt back to earth for dinner no sweat
Just got my first pair of multi-focal glasses. Folks, ya boy is old.
Now I guess we'll see if my new glasses interfere with my playing Legend of Zelda til too long after bedtime
@LeftCoast Well, so far, a lot of head bobbing is what I'm doing. Still adjusting
I'm also getting a pair of single focus glasses for working at my desk, so that might be what I wear around the house mostly
@stupidmentalhealthwalks I'm wearing a Plague Doctor beak mask full of Flonase inhalers lately
