@danderson Heh, yeah, through various YouTube rabbit holes, I've seen fiber techs using some spendy looking equipment with a microscope to join segments during big new neighborhood installs. I like the squirrels in my neighborhood and even feed them occasionally - but I like my internet more 😅

So I asked for notifications from UPS for a package arriving today that requires a signature.

Neat: These days they offer me a semi-live map showing where the truck currently is at.

Not so neat: The truck is going in a kind of a snaking grid pattern making deliveries, elsewhere in the neighborhood. The system keeps notifying me when the truck approaches my address in distance.

But then the truck drives away from my address as it continues making other deliveries. Then it turns around and approaches my address again...

What if we could get the jack-wagons to stop using Linux because it's a "woke" OS?

I am glad I was watching that delivery notification obsessively, though: The dude arrived, knocked quietly, didn't ring the doorbell, and was 2/3 of the way writing the "missed delivery" slip by the time I went downstairs and opened the door
