re: TV show analogies

@c0debabe I feel like they both could throw a black hole into a star, but Luz would probably do it by accident

I literally forgot what I was doing in the 5 seconds from thinking of a thing to opening a tab to search for a thing. Saw too many toots and heard too many things along the way - and (poof) the original idea was gone

Oh right: "raspberry pi 5 alternative" - that's what I went to search for.

(Apparently there's a new $80 Raspberry Pi 5 which, among other things, leaves me less than enthused)

Like, if RasPi folks are going to be jerks on the fediverse and almost double the price of the thing - other SBCs look very much more interesting

(edit: I'd said "more than double" where it's not quite double for comparable models at release prices)

Heck, depending on requirements, you can get a little thing that runs Linux for $8 these days (which admittedly I haven't played with yet!) pine64.com/product/128mb-ox64-

@davealvarado It's been awhile, but the last one I bought was US$35

I know it's been awhile, things have changed between supply chains and inflation - but that's part of my point

raspberrypi.com/news/raspberry

@thejpster Last one I bought was $35 - so not quite double, even considering the better comparable higher-tier $55 model back then

Like, I know, things change, and there's been inflation. But that's part of the whole thing

raspberrypi.com/news/raspberry

@davealvarado And the RPi 3 was $35 and the 2 was $35 and the 1 was $35 - it's a distinct change for reasons worth weighing.

@davealvarado Like I said, I bought my last RPi 4 at $35, the comparable "low end" RPi 5 now is $60.

So, not quite double (my bad) - but they have departed from "the $35 computer" as a design constraint and concept

@davealvarado I bought the low-end RPi4 for $35. That was an upgrade to my low-end RPi3 that I'd bought for $35. The low-end RPi 5 upgrade is $60. It's a change. (i.e. there is no $35 RPi 5 at any spec)

@zwol FWIW, I got flu & COVID-19 shots at the same visit and it was a drag for about 5 days for me too, just now really feeling back to normalish

i didn't really need to google "why do wizards wear robes"

@zwol Yeah, I think I'd choose differently next time, too 😅

@mdhughes frankly, it took longer than I expected for a response like this to roll in 😆

re: phalloplasty, SRS

@erosdiscordia Congrats, I hope this works out splendidly for you!

@cwebber @mlemweb @wha Oo, congrats! 🎉

The call of the void beckoning me to upgrade macOS on my work laptop

@hotdogsladies @benbrown Ooo, I hadn't tried the "Dictate text" action in a shortcut before!

Thanks to this thread, now I got a thing that appends a bullet to my daily Obsidian journal from me jabbering at Siri
