Learning that I'm often subject to "mental weather" - moods and feelings that aren't or shouldn't be attributed to a easy explanation or scapegoat. That is, if I'm feeling irritable and angry, it doesn't follow that someone or something external caused it.
You don't blame anyone for inclement weather, not even yourself. You put on a rain coat or maybe you change your plans.
I learned this one by watching my Dad do the opposite.

Also a funny thing is that I, a life-long technophile, plan this week to roast a turkey in a plain old Weber kettle grill over charcoal with only the benefit of a simple thermometer - as I have done for the past 3 years so far. Hope I don't screw it up 🤞

@christianselig Ours is a Technivorm Moccamaster. I'd recommend it because it makes a perfect pot of drip coffee every time and has lasted 15 years so far (knock on wood)

@jrconlin Yeah, just the spouse and I too. The turkey grilling mostly ends up being an opportunity for the girl to make all the sides she likes while I stay out of the way out on the patio reading and having a beer.
