And now I have found the Lucky 13 printable jointed figure and I gave it a deer head. #3dprinting

@jrconlin Oh man, I totally forgot about STICKFAS. I never had any but I vaguely remember them. Totally seems like a modern rendition, once you see all the accessories and skins and remixes to print https://www.printables.com/search/models?q=lucky+13
@loresjoberg Oof, yeah, I've totally got this too. It's why I listen to podcasts usually at 2x speed or faster in order to understand them. Too slow, too many pauses, and I've already lost the plot.
One of my colleagues at work, Mike Heavers, is presenting right now on "Prototyping in the midst of rapid transition" - talking about prototyping in amidst LLM & AI and building responsibly in the open
So I printed some hex wall panels and some shelves and accouterments on which to display my printed knickknacks. Hung them from picture rail hooks with paracord.
I have clearly overestimated the visibility of dark purple against black. I guess I just have to shop for more filament colors! #3dprinting

Also, Deer Bot is menacing me from my desk, because they do not currently fit on the new shelves #3dprinting
Every time I look over at this guy, I get "Rock Lobster" by the B52s stuck in my head #3dprinting
Slightly annoyed at myself that I was so excited to assemble Deer Bot that I didn't take any pictures of the parts or the process. I guess I'll just have to print more Deer Bots in more colors
@srol I can hear this picture. Also, I spent a long time as a kid trying to get two buttons down at the same time so I could see in-between channels (which weren't a thing)
@TheDarkHorse I definitely need some hot pink filament in my life
@signal9 @TheDarkHorse ohhh that's rad!
@maddiefuzz @signal9 @TheDarkHorse I mean you probably already printed a boat
@maddiefuzz @luigirenna @Wrewdison It's probably just the cenobites being half-summoned interfering with extrusion
Haven't bought an HP printer since the 90s.
Just get a Brother laser printer. They're cheap and they're "fine" - i.e. you hook them up, they print, and you can get toner for them without fuss. Some Brother appliances even scan "fine" too
Like, when was the last time you heard much about Brother printers, good or bad? (I mean, other than this article from The Verge, which is correct.) They're boring as heck. As printers should be.
@mos_8502 Yeah, I guess the thing that's likely to get me to buy another printer is that our Brother is just monochrome. Would be nice to have a color printer someday. If I felt the urge strong enough, it'd be a Brother
@fastmailunited @fastmail As a happy Fastmail customer, I'm super pleased to pay for a service from a union shop
Just received a package from @nervous_jesse and friends at Nervous System that still smells of barbecued laser-cut wood. Closed it quickly to keep the smell in.
Dang it, I need a laser cutter.
I used to have regular access to a laser cutter at a maker space. But, I've been too hermited to frequent maker spaces in recent years and haven't quite been able to justify the cost of my own private laser cutter. But dang I miss that smell
Like, if I won the lottery, I'd have a space full of 3D printers and laser cutters and CNC machines just to tinker with. The only way I could see to justify doing that would be to start a business and/or be a Content Creator, and I don't think either of those are my bag.
I keep trying the live streaming thing, but it never really sticks. I like playing with OBS and graphics and cameras, but consistency is my enemy.
Same for running a business. Endless marketing & packaging & shipping would burn me out in a month, if not in a week.
@tankgrrl That option is both fearful yet intriguing to me. I told myself I wanted a 3d printING hobby not a 3D printER hobby, but then spent a week printing 3D printer upgrades and tinkering with the thing
@tankgrrl I figure I'll probably get to a point where my first 3D printer is too reliable and I'll need to start tinkering with a second worse one for fun, because I have that sickness
@suetanvil Yeah, I feel like every clever way I can think of to get a tinkering space to pay for itself turns into an activity other than playing around in the tinkering space :sadcowblob:
@Shunra Are you sure those aren't baby dragons?
@teajaygrey TIL there's a vinyl repress of Tenebrae Vision 👀
@SynapticRewrite because then we couldn't all swim through pools of dead button cell batteries like Scrooge McDuck?
@maddiefuzz @SynapticRewrite next you're gonna tell me I can 3D print with rocks
