So I was doling out canned food for the cats with a fork into bowls on the counter. I just barely stopped myself from sticking that fork into my mouth when I went to grab the bowls to deliver them to the cats. Like, the fork was a centimeter from my lips before I aborted the script

@sophia81 @twipped Like, he seems too good to be true with the hair and the voice and all

@ianbetteridge That's true, but also you do get to pick & choose who uses it with you

@J12t Zuck did say "starting to test" which I'd take to mean it's not generally available

BRB, setting up a cronjob to periodically webfinger Zuck and send a Home Assistant alert to my phone when it works. Everyone wants to webfinger-bang the Zuck

@J12t Well, it'd be Zuck if they're looking to capacity test, but maybe they'd start with a few no-follow accounts to see if it's working

So, we've quietly opened up a TestFlight alpha of Didthis, an app I've been working on for the past bunch of weeks.

It's meant to help folks record progress in hobbies of all sorts. And rather than start Yet Another Social Network, we have aims to slot into "cozy web" sharing like show-and-tell Discord channels and connecting up to the Fediverse. Intentionally centering creations over creators.

Very early days yet, very alpha quality. We're in the "justifying spending more time on this" phase of development, so I'm hoping we can get some folks to check it out.

Edit: Oh yeah, and we have a Discord for folks to join. Very quiet there yet, but that might just be because we're not great at spreading the invite 😅

Oh, and apropos of this "not Yet Another Social Network" notion, there's no real discovery built into the thing yet. And we may not prioritize building it in any usual way.

So, here are my meager projects so far, I guess follow me with a bookmark as we figure out how we want to connect up to existing networks

And a weird thing is that we decided to push an iOS app in the App Store as the primary usage client for now, but it is also very much a web app.

I'm hoping we expand out to an Android app early in the new year and more fully support the web side of things. We're a very tiny team, so a lot of that is probably when I get time to do it 😅

Oh, and we may end up completely changing the name & branding. We might also open source the thing and implement federation with ActivityPub.

But, a lot of it comes down to whether we get any enthusiasm from folks interested in using it. (Kind of a fun catch-22)

@Macross Oh yeah, it's totally not released in the store in general yet. We're being very careful about tiptoeing into a release. Just in TestFlight right now testflight.apple.com/join/y5Il

I keep kind of going back & forth on blogging about this React Native iOS app development I've done recently. On one hand it's kind of a dirty hack, on the other hand it's working?

But also I'm sure I'm not the first person to have wrapped a mobile web site in a React Native app. The main fun thing is I set up a little Promise-based postMessage API so the website can ask the iOS app shell to do things and vice versa.

@cwebber it's when a bunch of buds named Fred get together and pass notes in class

@mathowie The last GM product I owned had a radio that could only play MP3s on a USB stick in alphabetical order

As an advocate of biking for urban transportation, I suppose cannot in all good conscience object when a herd of 30-40 wild toddlers tricycles in through the front door of my house. "Not like that" is what I guess I can't say. Or some hypocrisy like that

(this is a subtoot, and if you don't get it you are better off)

@astatide Right on through, hoist by my own philosophical petard I guess

@dko @SasquatcherGeneral Haha whenever I see an Ioniq 5 now, I think "oh hey that's the @TechConnectify guy's car!"

This was one of the best yet infuriating web experiences about Twitter that I've explored so far.
