Oh, hey, so I went ahead and bought Guild Wars 2 DLC from Steam. But, turns out I can't log into my original ArenaNet account from Steam. So, I can't use the DLC that I bought without starting over with a new account.

Welp. Hope Steam lets me refund it.

Not like I've been a super-dedicated Guild Wars 2 player by any means, but my original account does date back to 2012 and has a bunch of goodies in it. So, yeah, starting a new account would be suboptimal

@MOS@studio8502.ca Yeah, hoping that's the case here. Installed the game, booted it up, discovered the problem, then submitted the refund requests within 10 minutes. Only about $20, all-told, but super annoying

@earthshine I could see that being a thing if there are only like 2-3 planets as densely populated as Earth in human space, and the rest of the dozens of planets are literally just one or two settlements but otherwise mostly deserted.

But then, why bother creating those settlements in the first place? And without a civilization-level industrial complex making Space MacGuffins, what's worth going there for? Just hang out on Earth 1, 2, or 3 for most of your adventure

Vacation time is usually a struggle between the part of my brain that wants sloth and the part of my brain which is like "look at all the time for activities!"

One of the activities that just popped into my head: Time to redo my blog again! Also, since these days my blog posts are just a pile of markdown files, I could just manage the whole thing as an Obsidian vault. That's a good idea, right?

The other part of my brain is like: Take an edible, go lay in bed, watch tiktok & youtube, fall asleep til tomorrow

There's a not-so-secret third part of my brain who will make me stare at a screen for hours, too guilty to lie down but too tired to start a project.
