It's neat when the weather sounds like someone's blasting my house with uncooked rice

Also, shout out to 2-month-ago-me who hopefully did the needful by trimming all those tree branches that were hanging on the internet fiber line.
Played about 20 hours of vanilla Minecraft over the weekend, but I think the enthusiasm has nearly evaporated.
Trying to decide if I want more of that sort of thing, maybe some Valheim? Maybe some No Man's Sky?
Trying not to feel guilty that I'm halfway through Act 3 of BG3 and not inclined to finish (weird feeling guilty over that)
@greg Heh, yeah, I got a wheat farm, some pigs & sheep, a portal to the nether realm, and a house with a trap door leading to a giant underground cavern. I hear there's a dragon somewhere, but meh
Dang it, yeah, that Minecraft enthusiasm just fully evaporated.
But, no other game or hobby interest replaced it. Tried a few things and the toddler brain flung them across the room. So, I'm just sitting here disentertained for the evening.
Also a weird random thing: I grew up with television where shows were built around ad breaks. Like, the story beats lead up to the pauses and pick back up after with a bit of contextual buffering. It all kind of flowed and made some sense.
But, these days on YouTube and Twitch, ads are just sort of these random abrupt interjections of inscrutable duration which slice scenes and sentences in two without sense or context. And on Twitch, whatever was interrupted just went on without you during the temporary promotional fugue state.
It's so jarring, I almost imagine it's causing brain damage or at least mental weirding to kids growing up with it today. Like, it must seem itchy not to be subject to random interruptions during average human interactions.
On Saturday mornings, my wife and I sometimes watch a Twitch stream that plays old TV ads from the 60s through the 90s. Weirdest thing is to have, like, an ad for Old Spice from the 80s suddenly clobbered by an ad for Old Spice from last month
@republic2809 fwiw, I ended up using this Docker container, but also itβs kind of a fun thing to do from scratch https://github.com/itzg/docker-minecraft-server
@Mossop I, uh, did some weird stuff in high school
@spook Time to go hack an ATM!
@tankgrrl Sounds like you want a PADD?
Oof, spoke a lil too soon: Half of one of our trees bent and broke under the ice, snapping an old disconnected phone landline. Now bits of it are resting against our internet fiber line. π¬
Tempted to go out there and do... something? But it's getting dark and it's all ice on ice. Went into the backyard to check something and almost couldn't get back into the house. Probably best to just hold tight and hope the thaw starts tomorrow as predicted.
