Was out for a walk to the park. There, I saw someone had snacks set out on a table - apples, baguettes, some yogurt cups.

No one was sitting at the table. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe it was a mom about 15-20 feet away chasing a toddler around.

As I walked by, 4 squirrels and 2 crows appeared. In the course of about 12 seconds, the apples all ran off in different directions and the baguettes headed up into the treetops. The yogurt cups were left alone. I didn't stick around to see what happened next.

Also, I feed the crows & squirrels peanuts when I'm on a walk, so I'm no snitch

@squeevening oof, I have absolutely done that before with my electronics tweezers :catGasp:

Someone mentioned Jeb! on a podcast and now I want a Guaca Bowle eater.com/2015/8/5/9102081/jeb

Well, that was fun: the power company needed do to a test, so they yanked the meter from our house without warning. I was in the middle of a meeting and went poof. Guess I'm glad it wasn't a tree

the CCP has made software to scrape specific mastodon accounts

@ShadowJonathan Someone's probably already mentioned this, but would Mastodon's authorized fetch option help at all as a speed bump here?

Just bought a pile of Carhartt hoodies. Which I didn't expect to do, because I'd thought they were kind of a trendy garbage brand like Eddie Bauer.

Turns out, nope, they make really solid hoodies. And I live in hoodies. Three-panel hoods, metal zippers, thick & comfy. Got this Rain Defender version that really does shed light PDX drizzle rather well.

Also their brand label is easy to pluck off with a thread-ripper - which I like doing to almost all my clothes, because I don't like displaying brands. Kinda like Cayce from William Gibson's Pattern Recognition

@eikenberry I'm going to have to check those out next!

@JoYo It's surprising how often "vaporize aqueduct" comes in handy

@davidpmaurer @arstechnica Depends on where you're at in the US - here in Portland, OR these cargo e-bikes are all over the place. I've got one, and I see lots of parents in my neighborhood shuttling kiddos around in them. Even in the rain!

Hmm, I hate wearing bright colors. Mostly because I don't want to be seen.

But, sometimes I want to ride my bike somewhere after dusk. In that scenario, I do want to be seen.

Ugh. Guess I need to bite the bullet and get a fluorescent green rain poncho or something. :blobsadreach:

@randomgeek kotlin the pain away

Like, ughhh don't perceive me but also don't hit me with your car.

@socketwench I guess I could use a high-vis vest for shenanigans too (mostly imagined, probably just end up used for bike rides)

@lordbowlich Yeah, at one point I favored Eddie Bauer but then all my clothes from them self-destructed. I'd try some super-cheap stuff, but it'd be really thin fabric and last 1/2 a wash cycle

Just deployed a Discord bot for my Didthis project at work!

To test it, I created a project on Didthis to share my progress on the Discord bot. And then, the bot shared my project updates on Discord.

didthis.app/user/lmorchard/pro

Now I just have to carve out some time to work on hobby projects that aren't Didthis and share them on Didthis.

But, also, I've got Didthis projects in mind to add Mastodon sharing and RSS feeds. Hopefully we can get both of those things rolling soon. The latter is already roughed out in a pull request, and I have a pretty good idea how to tackle the former.

Again, I am awful at promoting this project. But maybe I can promote it by just building stuff and tooting about it?

@rafial @antijingoist I miss my Palm Pre. I still have it, but :blobshrug:
