re: mh-?

Update: I called back, got through after 30 minutes on hold, read from the script I'd typed out in my notes, and followed through on the intended bank transaction. All my spoons are rattling around in the garbage disposal now

This telnet mapscii.me thing is pretty great! I usually get my butt kicked though

@requiem @adafruit I was like, wait that's just an Android phone (sees photo of underside) ohhh, fascinating

Oooh, earbuds with replaceable batteries and they're weather proof? This might actually get me to spend more than US$20 on wireless earbuds 🤔

shop.fairphone.com/fairbuds

Like, over the past 7 years or so, I've only spent $20 on a new pair of earbuds about every 18 months. Mostly because of mishaps. (fell out of pocket, went through wash, carried away by crow)

The latest pair I've got are pretty great. Their mics suck at phone calls, but I hate those anyway. Otherwise they're great for podcasts on bike rides and in the shower. Not noticeably bad for streaming music.

I've tried airpods and other buds and have yet to find them 10x as appealing as $20 earbuds when they're all about as equally disposable.

But, if I could treat the buds as actually maintainable gear? That's a different story

Just watched an ADHD coach on youtube say the best mindfulness meditation trick to work for her in years was to stand on one leg for 5 minutes (2:30, each side) - and you know what? I'm in

I'd stand on my head if I didn't already know that the rocks bouncing around in my inner ears would make me vomit into my nostrils in short order

@skippy Unfortunately, they seem to come from a rotating cloud of temporary brands out of factories in China. I bought these, but the brand disappeared the week after

That would seem to be a recommendation not to buy, but I haven't really been disappointed yet (maybe my expectations are low?)

@george Oh interesting! 👀

us politics; truth social; twitter

clearly the lesson for mastodon instances in recent years' news is this: if you really want to spice things up, you need to organize your instance around an unhinged popular celebrity

re: us politics; truth social; twitter

like, I'm surprised that somebody like Kanye West or Kid Rock hasn't gotten some nerds to rent out a slice of masto.host for them or something

re: medical gross

@c0debabe Oh yeah, those get grungy :blobfoxdisgust:

re: medical gross

@c0debabe (speaking of which, it's probably time for a change on mine too :oh_no:)

@jalefkowit FWIW, the complicated one is where most projects I've worked on have landed in recent years. Build it into a Docker container with GitHub Actions, push it out from there

@quinn is this, like, a celebration of identity (i.e. girl of piss) or a reminder for self-care (i.e. you've hydrated enough!)? or maybe both? 🤔

@quinn ah, very good! sounds like all the above

Slowly getting around to learning assembly on my and part of me wishes for a "fantasy console" based on this hardware assemblage that runs emulated in the browser kinda like

Update: I stood on one leg for part of some meetings today and it seemed to help me focus when I wasn't falling over?

I guess kudos to my leg strength being plenty enough, thanks to bike rides and standing desk. Anti-kudos to those aforementioned rocks in my ears that make balance a challenge sometimes

@nusan oh, that does look really interesting!
