@sashin I might be able to, but then I have a library to take care of along with my project 😅

@hotdogsladies ham bacon sausage plain amen 🙏

paul graham; ai

Paul Graham apparently thinks "delve" as a word is a signal you're reading AI-generated text

Ironically, the last time I wrote a toot using the word "delve", I was snarking about media coverage of gen AI

@mavica_again I'll tell you about my tortoise

tinkering with Rust again and I keep typing garco instead of cargo :blobconfused:

I'm not great at product pitches. I'm trying to help my team at work sharpen up a product pitch. This is me, unfortunately.

re: "AAA" video games; star wars

It'll be "free" on Game Pass in about a year, so who cares? Or "very cheap" on Steam in about 3 years

Broke my fidget spinner. :blobnotlike: But, luckily, I have primitive 21st century replicator technology

Woo, look at it go! (someday I'll have a fancy camera pointed at this thing what does more than 10 seconds-per-frame)

Ding! Fries are done!

@emma I think they're skateboard bearings? I've had a stock of them for awhile, but I want to say I got them either from Amazon or Aliexpress? amazon.com/gp/product/B07216D1

Hmm, now that I've printed another one of these, I see that the place where it broke before is where the slicer stuck the z-seam.

If this one eventually breaks, maybe I can move the z-seam somewhere else like to the inside bearing slot where there's more reinforcement?

So I said screw it and released some software today - Fossilizer v0.2.0

It's a static site generator for Mastodon exports with client-side search via pagefind

github.com/lmorchard/fossilize

There's a lot of work to be done yet (thus v0.2.0) but it is doing some neat things already, I think?

Here's an example build from my own toots that I just pushed out to GItHub Pages

lmorchard.github.io/lmorchard-

I started building Fossilizer last summer - but then, thanks to a job change and ADHD and general life chaos, I fell away from hacking on it for awhile. The brain just suddenly wanted to work on it again, so I strike while the iron's hot I guess

If my attention span lasts, I'd like to polish up the default theme, get incremental backups working via mastodon API and/or ActivityPub outbox, and see about a canned GitHub Actions workflow to automagically keep the archive updated.

(of course, it'll work outside of GitHub Pages & Actions, but that's a nice "free beer" stack that could be as easy as a repo fork to get going for your own toots)

Still, even just running this site generator locally without publishing the result anywhere ends up being rather handy, because it gives me a decently useful search engine for my toots across the 4 or 5 different instances I've hung out on over the years

@w8emv It's got a lot of rough edges, but hopefully it starts being handy! 😅

Also since I'm poking through my old toots, it let me remember things like it's been almost 5 years since the last time I climbed a tree. This one, I used to climb all the time, since it was just outside my college dorm over 25 years ago

(alas this was the weekend before they tore that dorm down - they left the tree, though)
