@alice i'm still okay with it, it's a fair deal

@venya I just got this little gadget and already I also want the SP version 😅
What if they did, like, a prestige TV adaptation of Earthbound with the first episode in the style of Stranger Things but 20 minutes in its like they can't keep a straight face and everything goes whacky from there
"Some commentators are snarking that Microsoft really really wants to make 2025 the year of Linux on the Desktop, and it's kind of hard to refute them right now."
(sickos: haha yes)

I do think it's funny how I've gone from "hey windows is pretty good these days, WSL is handy, I like my Dell laptop" to "holy shit get this out of my house, linux is pretty great these days, I really want a framework laptop" over the course of less than a year.
Like, the windows-liking gradually overtook me across the course of 7 years or so after Apple hardware & software annoyed me past an acceptable threshold. But dang that evaporated fast
@BrideOfLinux I've flirted on & off with some distro or another as my daily driver since 1998 or so
But this time around, multiple distros seem to work practically fine on my PC for gaming, which feels totally new to me!
@alice There are days I wake up really wishing I lived in a gift economy
@gunchleoc Yeah, that's another thing that's weirdly exciting to me lately: containers & bottles & VMs (almost) all the way down. @BrideOfLinux
@gunchleoc Yeah, I've gotten into so much trouble dual booting. These days I just want a solid base OS that I don't have to mess much with and treat everything else as a temporary / long-term guest @BrideOfLinux
@scott INTO THE PIHOLE YOU GO!
@sdwilsh Well, I'm always cobbling together homelab servers and such out of castoffs from old machines. That seems to be a possibility with Framework gear? Also saw someone building a DIY "steam deck" out of their parts, which seems fun
@toolbear Haha, crows shitting berries on their cars, dang
@Njord @malcircuit @rooster It's too bad there isn't like a magical device to just read someone's position on the Kinsey scale
@raphaelmorgan Oof, yeah, that'd be evil :sadness:
@Njord @malcircuit @rooster
I will sheepishly admit that I used a local LLM to help me generate a draft of a self-reflection document for review season at work.
I ended up tearing out everything it wrote and replacing it with my own writing, but it at least helped me get past the blank page.
Maybe next time I'll just use a Markov chain trained on all my past self-reflections
