That thing where I almost think I'm done with a pull request and am about to mark it ready for review, only to realize I have Misunderstood The Assignment and spend another hour totally reworking my patch

Currently stuck in my head:

@randomgeek Like, I understand React and Next.js pretty well and I have followed the development of all this stuff through incremental steps that sorta made sense as it happened.
But, at a certain point, I take a step back and I'm like... wait, this smells like when we were making JavaBeans as adapter components to type into virtual 3270 green screen terminals on legacy mainframes so we could make web UIs.
Except, somehow, this is the reverse? Like we have a decently fine web and folks are building green screens on top of it and then building JavaBeans on top of that
There are times when I wish Elizabeth Fraser (you know, from Cocteau Twins?) would just sneak up behind me and randomly wail nonsense words & sounds
@rgegriff I miss when I was running 5k for 3 days a week - and by "running" I mean a clompy pace barely above walking, but nonetheless sustained for 5 kilometers.
Ended up falling out of the habit after stopping for an illness a few years ago and haven't quite gotten back to it. But, it feels really good if you can keep it up and see the steady improvements!
@potch DEHYDRATE
@JoshuaACNewman I think the count comes from a number in the user's actor JSON, but by way of an instance's local cache first. So it could be the two different servers had different cached versions?
dang it, now i want tacos and beer but such things are not immediately within arms reach so i guess i'll just expire :da_faint:β
"but les, google maps says you have at least 5 taquerias within 3 blocks"
"out of arms reach! my consciousness is slipping away!"
@rgegriff I had a pattern for a few years where I'd fall off running in late winter (because cold) but then restart C25k in the spring and be up to regular 5k's by June. I was surprised how well C25k worked for me! Hope your pushing pays off!
@cinebox hmm, you've got a point there
Was about to leave my office for the day but then Big Sonic Heaven plays Killing Joke
Successfully transferred to earbuds and my phone. But also, here's the Killing Joke that kept me around
