This is how Spotify has chosen to present my "Chill Mix" (i mean, it was a pretty chill mix though)
@rafial This is like the one job I wish a voice assistant was good at, but my nose always proves more useful
Virtual pet next to real pet, still bopping along at 10 #tamagotchi years
@The_Icarian I wonder if they have tactical rail attachments for the items in the collection in the background?
This song scratched my brain meats in a good spot:
I appreciate the chutzpah here, but also I feel like this is the sort of thing you shouldn't document on the internet under your government name?
Like "My personal stance on that is suck my diiiiiiiick, but feel free to perform your own risk assessment" makes me think "🫡 good luck with that"

Dumb psychic power to remember for writing later: The ability to predict time and circumstance of death, but only for virtual pets and the occasional mid-level semi-sentient AGI
(eyes go white) "that tamagotchi's gonna make it to about 8 days, at which time you'll drop it in the toilet" (eyes go normal) "dang it, that always gives me a migraine"
@jalefkowit jiminy cricket, it's e. coli, not fuckin iocane powder
@devrandom FWIW, I also have a (neglected) synchronet BBS running behind nginx! I got the webserver onto port 80, but just left the websocket server on a weird port 6511
Can share my nginx copypasta mess if it's helpful
@devrandom This nginx config is the result of copy/paste stupidity, but it seems to work?
The setup I have is an external VM running nginx. Synchronet runs on a machine I have at home, which connects to the external VM via ssh and forwards ports 6580 (web) and 6510 (websocket) so nginx can proxy them. (Oh, or maybe I switched that thing to using Tailscale? 🤔 )
Maybe a weird set up, but have a few things on my own hardware exposed to the internet that way

@beka_valentine Can definitely confirm: When I was a kid, I had a C64, there was a summer when my tape drive broke and I didn't have a floppy drive yet.
There were tons of BASIC programs I had from books - or even had memorized - to do interesting things (like dial BBSes) while I was saving up soda-can-deposit money to get a new storage device.
@devrandom Yeah, I want to say I found some of this magic incantation years ago from some synchronet forum that might not be around anymore :sadness:
I have a vague recollection that chunked_transfer_encoding off
and proxy_buffering off
were necessary to prevent some disconnects and lag while using the web-based terminal
I have to get up from my desk to do something, but first I have to remain seated to honor the breakdown in "Situation" by Yazoo from about 4:05 to 4:22
...
okay now I can go
