A hot take I have about tax credits and public benefits: Nothing should ever be means-tested. If there's a $4000 tax credit for having a kid - everyone should get it, even billionaires. The flip side of that is that billionaires should be taxed out of existence.

Another hot take I have is that I wouldn't mind paying a 50% tax rate at around my income level and higher, just as long as I knew everyone was taken care of and that I'd be okay if I ever lost my income level.

(and by taken care of, I mean food & clothing & shelter & healthcare & education & whatever else we can gift each other)

@Osmose The more I look at that particular measure, the more it looks to me like an attempt at "welp we tried, it failed, now we'll never do it again" badness

A bunch of good video games have come out this month, but it's my birthday month so I'm trying really hard not to buy any of them (oh woe is me, etc, etc)

Today's peeve: Questions asked of me which could have been answered for the querent with fewer computer interactions than it took to ask me the question - interactions which now I have to perform, rendering me a chat-based interface to our shared information system.

It's a small thing. But when it happens repeatedly over time, it just makes my little autistic gears grind.

Like, on one hand, get over it, it's just how people are.

On the other hand, grr.
