@exquisitecorp That sounds amazing!

...you're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation

@craigmaloney I feel like Intermix hardly gets any play

Oof, well part of the reason I started messing with a hackintosh in a VM was to see if I could get iCloud Sync running on a Linux machine in my basement.

Turns out probably not unless I generate a real looking but not already in use hardware serial number to convince Apple to let me sign in with my ID.

I'm going to give up for now and play video games

I've got a spare older macbook pro around here somewhere, maybe I'll just set that up semi-permanently in the basement as a bridge to Apple world

This crap actually makes me miss when I was in an all Windows & Android ecosystem

@wraithan @DrGoldfire @mythmon @amy I also very much enjoy the occasional phenomenon of "wait, really? that worked?"

@craigmaloney Yeah, and occasionally they make awful Windows software. Like file syncing where the files are locked or inaccessible most of the time

Trying to be strong tonight and not put on the Stargate channel on Pluto TV. They've been airing Stargate Universe episodes til the wee hours lately and it's such a terrible show that nonetheless has been sending me to bed later than I'd like

re: Actor Simping πŸ‘‰πŸ»πŸ‘ˆπŸ»

@liz googles David Blue

How the hell did that happen?

@robdaemon I do kind of wish it weren't so grimdark, but also it's getting me hooked so I'm not that mad at it πŸ˜…β€‹

re: Actor Simping πŸ‘‰πŸ»πŸ‘ˆπŸ»

@liz Like, WTF

@robdaemon Heh, I remember thinking the original movie took itself too seriously so the show was just right for me

For tonight's writing exercise, I remembered a religion I dreamed about a few weeks ago

Not a good recipe for bed on time, Pluto TV

Like, I know this isn't anything but a playlist of on-demand reruns, but it triggers old TV habits surprisingly well

re: ActivityPub dev

@darius @randName FWIW, it's been a few years, but I want to say this one I did was working for some bots I tinkered with years ago

re: ActivityPub dev

@darius @randName Oh wait, but that might not be at all what you're talking about so πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

re: ActivityPub dev

@darius @randName What could go wrong?

@erosdiscordia @ajroach42 I remember circa 2004 when I was enamored with linux and wifi and was mainlining Ray Kurzweil into my head convinced machine learning and AI were about to let me make friends with computers and upload myself to the cloud

Woke up with Rush in my head and queued up a couple of my most favorite albums of theirs this morning:

Counterparts (1993), because it came out at a particular time for me in college when I was reading a lot of Jung and I feel like Neil Peart was doing the same when he wrote the lyrics.

Vapor Trails (2002), because sweet dang. Mr. P had to go on an 88,000km motorcycle odyssey after losing his wife & daughter before he could make music again and "One Little Victory" is what they come back with

Like, I always wished I could have met Neil Peart. But also I know he probably never really wanted to meet me, per "Limelight":

Living in a fisheye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend

But, dang, the lyrics in "Animate" from Counterparts are such a Jungian, Tarot card deck trip for a band that mostly gets talked about as stuck in Ayn Rand Objectivist dorkery.

Spirit in my psyche
Double in my role
Alter in my image
Struggle for control

Mistress of the dark unconscious
Mermaid of the lunar sea
Daughter of the great enchantress
Sister to the boy inside of me

Also one last Rush toot for awhile: remember Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda? Wish it ended up being a better show and too bad about Kevin Sorbo, but the original theme was done by Alex Lifeson of Rush trying to make guitars sound like bagpipes m.youtube.com/watch?v=aMRRF1jS

Like, I want to see the show that those opening credits are for

Buy the dip. Live a little. I like french onion, myself

Found myself raging at news on the birdsite. Been trying to not engage in that and posting hot takes. Starting to think maybe I should just keep weaning off the birdsite like I weaned entirely off the bluesite years ago. I miss some of the social connection over there, but it's seeming less worth it

I haven't gotten to actually deleting my account over on the bluesite, though, because my Mom still has an account there and we talk through it sometimes and she posts hobby photography there. Feels like a hostage situation.

Of course, one of the main reasons I don't use the bluesite anymore is many of the rest of my family relations on there are are MAGA / Q fans. So, that's problematic.
