@tlhInganHom @Fourteen heh yeah, a different “they” makes for a horror story :blobsweat:

Watching this Stargate SG-1 episode with Dom DeLuise as "Urgo" and I'd forgotten how much of the DeLuise family there is in SG-1 overall
@robdaemon Heh, yeah there are like 4 or 5 DeLuises involved in the series!
@ghost_bird I’ve been having the same problem lately and it’s so annoying
Nothing like an early morning spent chasing a sad cat around the house to give him eye drops he doesn’t want. Smart enough to know the sound of the bottle cap coming off, not smart enough to connect that it’s helping.
Also our youngest cat Cosmo is weird: the only time he ever meows is if he’s completely alone somewhere in the house, then he croons and mews and yowls to himself. But if any one is in sight, the loudest sound he ever makes is purring.
I just caught him having a conversation with himself and he immediately stopped when he saw me. I feel like I interrupted something.
Car shopping (ugh) and re-learning about cars that have fake or enhanced engine noise played into the cabin.
Isn't that just like when we used to clothespin a playing card to flap against bike spokes? Why not just play Forza or something? This is like the dumbest AR application.
I've kind of got a story idea now where all "enthusiast" grade cars come with AR helmets to make you think the Chevy Spark you're driving is a Lambo
I will say I'm slightly more impressed with creativity to come up with an entirely different "soundscape" related to electric vehicle performance as an ambient indicator.
If I had a choice, I would want to be able to switch over to a dramatic synthwave track that builds as I break the speed limit on the freeway
I also feel like growing up in the Detroit area and having worked awhile in the automotive ad industry has completely ruined me for feeling any kind of positive affect toward cars.
All I want is a reliable conveyance to occasionally use that does the least harm and lets me play songs from my phone while keeping me comfortable & dry.
@RadicalEdward Yeah, I think it's something exactly like that
My cargo e-bike is nearly all of those things - except for the comfortable & dry part and it's not entirely convenient for round trips between city and suburb.
@Greg That's what I'm talking about!
@rgegriff The only thing that discourse does is make me sad that we have all this computational power and we're not using it to give me a cheap space ship to putter around the solar system in
Also, to sum up my thoughts on car-sounds: they sound like really long farts to me. When folks rev 'em up and try to be all impressive, I just think farts.
(well okay, some farts can be impressive and thrilling. but not from, like, a mustang car. now if a mustang horse farted like that, I would be amazed and also concerned)
Ughhhh, I need a better tool for uploading my blog's static builds to Amazon S3.
I couldn't figure out why a change to a blog post title wasn't getting uploaded. I changed it from "Untitled" to "Exchange".
Turns out both those words have the same length. And the uploader is using content length to decide whether something changed. So, nothing got uploaded.
Like, I know a better world is possible but I've just lazily picked whatever github actions came up first and glued them all together
@noleli Not rsync in particular, though there are better sync schemes that use ETag hashes and such
@erinbee I literally just went "oh hohohohohoho yes"
@erinbee I haven't heard this song in forever, but now I want a car with loudspeakers playing this on loop to the neighborhood
@tindall I don't know what any of those are because I'm still in the "I should get into modular synths" stage but also I hope you share many pictures
@tindall Well that looks neato! I know just a tiny bit about how that stuff goes together with the bus board and power supply in back. Looks like fun noisy Lego
@jrconlin He does have extra thumbs and I thought one of his meows sounded like "nanu-nanu"
