@chucker To be fair, it was a bit of a messy mashup of those two screenshots because I was still running Classic OS 9 applications with old-style window frames under OS X 😅

@anildash Huh, same here! https://blog.lmorchard.com/2006/06/09/wedding-day-is-today/
@anildash And same for our engagement :) https://blog.lmorchard.com/2005/06/17/were-engaged/
@yuki2501 :bunlove::buncouple::bunlove_rev: 👁️
@drwho Added you to the ring! https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/drwho_hackers.town/index.html
@Macross Here's a ring-thing for ya https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/Macross_hackers.town/index.html
It really is interesting to see the flood of servers roll in to fetch every link I toot out on this fediverse ring thing. I should actually, like, put more useful headers in the pages so the fetch produces a more decent preview card 🤔
@garbados On walks, lately, I've been bribing the neighborhood crows with peanuts and small piles of cat kibble. I'm hoping to establish trade relations or at least be snarky with them about other people at the park
@lindsey Ascension was a neat show!
@raineer You're validated in the ring now, welcome! https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/raineer_frontrange.co/index.html
@lynfox Got you added to the ring, welcome! https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/lynfox_aus.social/index.html
@RadicalEdward Welcome to the high-tech CSV file! https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/RadicalEdward_hackers.town/index.html
@thegibson Welcome to the ring, sir! https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/thegibson_hackers.town/index.html
@capnseasick You most certainly can get an add, here you go! https://fediverse-webring-enthusiasts.glitch.me/profiles/capnseasick_hackers.town/index.html
It's also kinda neat watching the server log for this fediverse ring on Glitch, because nearly all of these hits have polite user agent strings that identify the instances making requests. Also not all that worried about the request volume, since these are all resources in a static site
Sometimes I wish I could decline a meeting invite with an automated "how dare you?" response
Got 26 folks in my Webring Enthusiasts fediverse ring so far. (I'm in there twice 😅)
Thinking that's popular enough to start thinking about building an ActivityPub bot to manage the ring and maybe toot out an occasional "follow friday" style selection of folks from the ring. 🤔
My eventual goal with this little fediverse ring thing is to make it easier for other folks to spin up their own rings of folks for whatever affiliation or topic of interest
@aendra I can add ya to the ring if you like, too!
@Macross It's pretty dang awesome that you've had that thing on near continual display since I think before either of us had drivers' licenses
I'd kind of hope if there are many fediverse rings, that takes some pressure away from initial choice of server and finding folks to follow.
The ring site has a CSV export which you can directly import on Mastodon. (Not sure about other fediverse server packages) If there are a few rings out there for different groups of interest, you could bootstrap your shiny new account with those.
I've also tried hacking in links to RSS feeds and an OPML list to import into a feed reader, if you want to lurk on the fediverse that way
@CAETFOOD Yeah, that's a good way to do it. Though also, federated timeline can be a bit sparse on a new, small, or personal instance. Could help to have some prefab batches of folks to follow
@lordbowlich That always annoys me on TikTok... like folks will make a video about cheese farts and hashtag some popular cosmetics brand for the views
@TinyExplosions Yeah, I could even see adding a feature to this thing that periodically builds a combined timeline of the curated listed folks. Kind of like the old "Planet" RSS aggregator sites
@TinyExplosions Yeah, we kind of had that sort of thing in the peak-RSS-feed days with OPML lists and Planet sites. Could have that again
@cmdr_nova We did buy a $25 amazon fire tablet at one point to watch videos in the kitchen, but it's turned out to be barely worth $25
@banjofox2 @cmdr_nova Well, admittedly, I haven't tried a custom ROM on it yet. Was hoping it would Just Work out of the box to play twitch or youtube stuff. But, I might see if it can work better with a de-crapped ROM
