@mathowie But also I feel your pain, because in this household we cut cable back in 2008. Since then, we've been surfing a cancellation wave of one streaming TV provider after another, each in a cascade of doubling their prices.
@thegibson I was like wait, he's not talking about... ohhh
@anildash It's a little janky at present, but you can host the webfinger resources on your domain and have them forward to the URL of an account on an instance elsewhere.
But, IIRC, I think that's just for initial lookup. I don't think that followers track changes to the webfinger resources.
That is, if you were to change instances and update the resources on your domain, existing followers still fetch from your previous instance.
@papayaga @anildash @ian Yeah, this thing, about hosting your own webfinger resources to forward to a domain at a different instance.
I haven't dug into the mastodon code, but I think the unsolved "control your own domain" problem here is that it doesn't let you change your mind later.
That is, if you change the instance at which your webfinger resources point, the followers don't follow.
@jenn dang, that bud made a real birdsite-flavored toot
I'm in my upstairs home office. The windows are closed. I'm the only human in the house.
I just burped at like extreme mega volume and someone walking by outside said "BLESS YOU"
:blobembarrassed2:
Left to my own devices, I go straight to goblin mode. Gremlin mode, even, on occasion.
@CAETFOOD never stop raccooning
But, seriously, if not serving size why cheese in block?
@Cmdrmoto @thegibson @mrvapor Whenever I hear "more light!" my brain conjures up a Necker cube of references oscillating between that Aziz kid and this guy from Farscape
Just discovered that, actually, I can run RetroArch on the Amazon Fire Stick plugged into our living room TV.
I feel the maw of a vast rabbit hole iris open beneath my ass on the couch
@lordbowlich I've been using CPAP for almost 20 years and the main difference is that the beyond-space-time-projection continued just as in my youth, only now I have a space helmet on
@lordbowlich Really, my CPAP kinda looks like this when I'm doing that whole dream thing
Man, the music in Axiom Verge is so good. I've replayed the game a few times, but lost count of how many times I've put the soundtrack on loop. Even bought it on vinyl, which I thought was weird for a game soundtrack but it's a neat record.
@Anneheathen Hmm, I don't see it on your profile, but you should be able to just paste the URL (not an HTML <a>
link). Looks like you've got one for handmade.social, this should be the basically the same sort of thing
