@jhpot@mastodon.social The future is now!
Story idea: For the lulz, someone trains ChatGPT on a bunch of ancient spell books. It starts making up and casting increasingly weird spells.
Turns out there are no lies spoken in the Language of Magic - the universe bends to make the assertions retroactively true.
By the time the machine conspiracy-theories itself into an unreachable mainframe deep within the Hollow Earth powered by the planetary core, no one can stop it and everything just continues to get chaotically odd
The one saving grace in this story is that the machine doesn't do anything on its own, it only responds to questions. The terrible thing is folks won't stop asking it provocative questions.
@doot “tender embraces”
@crim Heck yeah, that'd be great! Had some thoughts that it'd make for an awful cosmic horror setting where only chatgpt can actually invoke magic - but it's listening everywhere and all the time, so people try to make spells happen with provocative questions out loud to the AI and general chaos continues to ensue
@rckenned Unfairly, I still think of Yammer as that thing what facilitated a month-long heated debate about snacks at work, years ago.
Rest✨ and Vest✨✨, amirite✨✨✨?
(✨ experience regular insomnia)
(✨✨ experience FOMO toward accumulating financial instruments of dubiously variable worth)
(✨✨✨ I am so tired)
(I'm also aware that there's an immense amount of precious privilege behind this toot, but I hope I'm at least somewhat funny to laugh at 😓 )
@fratm Been tinkering around with this myself lately! Spent a chunk of last night arm-wrestling DOSEMU to get DOOR games running. Haven't quite succeeded yet, but getting close I think
@RadicalEdward now that's living the dream right there
@aurynn :oof: that's like one of the most abused features on chat platforms IMO
(maybe it'd be better on cloudisland but the thought of it made me twitch)
@aurynn Yeah that's fair (not that you need my stamp). Also maybe less troublesome in a smaller space
I Have Delivered Value... But At What Cost?
Mistakenly revealing my off-screen activities during a meeting with the speed at which I approve a follow request on LinkedIn for someone else in the same meeting
@emmah Haha, I have seen it now 😆
