Had a real good run for a great many years using Spotify. Kind of thought my lil hoard of MP3s & FLACs on the household NAS was near obsolete.

But with Spotify's push to deliver shitty podcasts from shitty people alongside shitty unwanted features, the last few years have seen me listening almost exclusively to DJ streams and my local collection. And hitting up Bandcamp for new additions to the collection.

Weird how The Future isn't a straight line

@gregtatum For the local collection, lately it's mainly the Audio Station app from Synology that plays from my NAS.

Otherwise, I follow a few dozen DJs on Twitch and also nearly always have a browser tab open to bigsonicheaven.com/

@brennen Yeah, I was liking Spotify for many years for the playlist sharing, and I have way too many "mixtapes" I made on there

@dkoneill Well, I've been a paying subscriber of Spotify for years. Music and playlists and suggestions are all I want from them. I don't care about the other stuff. In fact, it's actively made me stop paying since it intruded into what I was paying for.

@Macross Heh, for me it's velcro strips and gaffer tape. But really, so many velcro strips

@cinja Oh dang, I mostly forgot about Switchblade Symphony. Also have played that Tre Lux album of covers on heavy repeat

@cinja ooh, I might have to get that purple vinyl because I'm consumerist trash

@gregtatum Glad you like it! The DJ behind it, Darren Revell, is an old favorite of mine since the mid-90s
