Huh. Reed switches are neat. They can detect 𧲠magnets π§²
It's a quick and dirty little couch project, but this thing can tell me about magnetism over wifi and it cost less than a big burrito
@jond Some folks I like asked me to use them because it made them more comfortable. So, I tried to get in the habit. I don't always manage to remember to do it.
"I turned my Atari 2600 into a REAL COMPUTER with a SpectraVideo CompuMate"
Wow, I almost can't believe they made this thing. Still, I would have gone a bit nuts for it, if I hadn't already gotten a C64
@gameboycamera My main thing for this is to hack together a detector for the electromagnet in our old-school doorbell chime. But now that I have a bunch on hand, I'm like what else can I slap this on? π
@joshua yeah, this was definitely a grungy way to hook it up π iβm aiming to stick the switch on a longer lead stuck into a doorbell assembly for the βrealβ hack, though
@joshua heh yup. The amperage sensor βworksβ but is very noisy and occasionally measures false positive spikes, which is less than desirable at 3am
@joshua hmm, that is a very good question
That thing where a decade-old thing keeps getting called "new" because someone just stumbled upon it again for the first time.
@maya Yeah, I'm sub-tooting so many many things here
It's a real "do the needful" kind of day today
If I re-surface to post on twitter to bemoan having lost my blue check (which I never had) will I get some clout?
(Have had an account on there since 2006 and the whole blue check thing never made sense to me)
