Got a few recruiting e-mails from NextDoor, one of the few social networks where I didn't just ghost but actively deleted my account.
I don't think that would play well in the interview.

@murph @craigmaloney I feel like this is a Darmok moment...

@RobRoberts@mastodon.social New twitter really will be all the friends we found along the way
Got up and poured myself a nice bowl of cat food for breakfast
@erazmus@mastodon.social I just managed to stop short of the milk 😅
@Macross rather fishy
First post with Mastodon? Nov 2016.
I think I had some fediverse activity from back in the StatusNet / Identica days, but those posts are long lost to the bit bucket.
Trying to dig for my ancient fediverse posts, I found this 2008 blog post of me working through setting up one of Mastodon's distant ancestors, Laconica.
Kinda wish I could go back in time and cure my ADHD so I could have focused more on tinkering with that. I'd have to cure my ADHD in the present to build the time machine, though.

@librenews I think it was laconica, then identica, then probably some random gnu social site in terms of where I dabbled
@valrus static web pages are my favorite
@noracodes @recursive I've gotten some static for it, but fwiw I think personal scoped search is a good idea.
Like, some indexing and algorithms applied to stuff coming in on the streaming firehose. No reaching out and scraping, just dealing with what you're sent. And not sharing that index with anyone else.
@noracodes @recursive I've also been kind of thinking about more global opt-in search. But I'm not sure it's a great idea even if someone can convince a critical mass of folks to opt in.
Like, maybe this impulse to build big global concentrators of info is the bad idea actually.
@andybaio Sorta relevant, I just started poking at finding trending links in the streaming API firehose of a mastodon instance. Nowhere interesting yet, but maybe it'll pan out?
I need to put some laundry away but umm #cats
@fratm Wow, that's uncanny!
@whalecoiner tell me more about this project "cheese sandwich"
Been seeing a run of articles about touchscreens in cars as a negative.
I feel like a luddite, because my dream car would be like a fully electric vehicle with nearly all analog buttons and dials and maybe a very small screen - but ideally just a spot to dock my phone for all the "entertainment" options.
I know I will never have this.

Like, we went without a car for about 3 years - hardly going anywhere during the panini except around town made e-bikes almost entirely sufficient.
Then we caved and got a Subaru Outback. I like the car pretty well, except man that big center-console screen is a nightmare for doing anything important while driving.
Oh, and the car I drove mostly before the panini was a 2008 Saturn Vue. That thing was reliable as heck and the readouts were dirt simple. But, alas, we got rid of it just before moving across country. I really kind of miss it.
@jrconlin So many buttons!
