@Macross Well, he's probably got a lot of wet food in his future, which he sees as a special treat anyway so šŸ¤·

@waxy If the sky falls and no one's around for it...

That thing where I get a haircut and they use a product which is Not My Usual Product and my head off-gasses Not My Smell for hours and several showers later and I start considering a Silkwood Shower in degreaser to decontaminate

@Mossop Iā€™m picturing it as my brain floating away like a balloon

@ReynGoldfur Hell, I'm gen x and I don't answer the phone or my front door unless it was expected & pre-arranged. My phone doesn't even ring unless it's someone in my contacts. It's all so untrustworthy these days

(edit: I see I'm not the first "I'm gen x and..." response in this thread, now šŸ˜… )

@lkanies just need to strap a green laser to it, and it's a shrine quest!

All my work credentials and login sessions just self-destructed, so it is time to do the needful on the work laptop

Why I stick a layer of clear vinyl shelf liner down before stickers on a laptop: so i can peel them all off in one go and keep them when the laptop goes away

I'm being slightly cagey about the new job and I was slightly cagey about the old job. I think I've gotten tired & burnt out on personally identifying with my employer. That said, I might get less cagey once I've actually started at the new place šŸ˜…

Some folks know, and it's not exactly a secret. But, transitions are weird

@mnw Heh, well, I trace the laptop by hand on the backing of the liner and cut it with scissors. But it's my 10th time doing this, so I've had some practice.

The liner is a roll of this stuff that I got maybe 10 years ago and have yet to run out :)

@ucblockhead Well, not when the laptop doesn't belong to me and I have to give it back :blobsadleft:ā€‹

@ucblockhead that said, for the laptops which do belong to me, they never go away

@ucblockhead Yeah, I mainly just like my stickers and wanna keep them too

@joshua Ah, naw, that's just a hackers townie thing :)

@mc There is a point of sticker coverage where the overlap makes it essentially a single removable layer, so that's a way to go too

@republic2809 Yeah, I've had pretty good luck with reapplying the layer to another same-size laptop for transfer. Other times, the skin just turns into an office decoration

@Cyan they DO like to party. you cannot stress that enough

@tek @thegibson Yeah, this really helps me get over my urge to hoard but never use stickers too :)

@tek @thegibson With this technique, you can either reapply to another laptop, or save the skin as a new mega-sticker to stick somewhere else like a workshop wall

@republic2809 @tek @thegibson Oh yeah, that too!

ugh, I keep forgetting that my iPhone is one of the few devices I have that doesn't charge with USB-C and sometimes just sort of scrape around at the bottom of it with a cable before my brain engages
