@Macross @0xSH00T A thing that fascinates me / fills me with despair is that some of the middleware out there is built from Java interfaces that pretend to be a 1970s era human typing on a 3270 green-screen terminal talking to a COBOL application on a mainframe. And sometimes the mainframes are emulated too.

@sunshine @rtyler IIRC, this particular thing is from "A Deepness in the Sky" - which is technically a middle book in a series, but I think works just fine on its own. It's got a pretty big collection of sci-fi concepts going on
