Had a handy Saturday: fixed the ice maker (water line was frozen), fixed a loose freezer handle, and installed a closet shelving system thingy from Ikea

@evan I remember there being more API mashups and de facto open data around that time too, all over the web

@lkanies Boulevardier club for the win!

@evan @simon @luis_in_brief I raise that sort of thing with probably annoying frequency:

I think we're used to thinking of "portability" as moving your stuff from one neutral fungible service provider to another. Like from AWS to GCP, which probably have very similar usage policies.

But, on the fediverse in particular, instance admins are often strongly opinionated and have distinct policies.

So, you're not just "moving your stuff", you're asking a new admin to accept a history of posting that hasn't gone through their local notions of moderation.

@thisisaaronland @evan @simon @luis_in_brief Not really the same, but I have this "fossilizer" project - a static site generator that eats Mastodon exports.

Been meaning to get back to it and add the ability to incrementally archive from a live account after the initial import, via the Mastodon API and/or ActivityPub outbox.

@evan been thinking about something adjacent, around expressing an note / object that’s an update to an ongoing project, handwaving at OrderedCollection but also head-scratching about how an update could be work outside that (maybe as a reply?)
