Man, this Pi Pico VGA Terminal is picky about keyboards. Tried a bunch of combos, and alas my IBM Model M with the teensy based USB control board ainā€™t it. Only keyboard I have that works is this wireless-dongleā€™d tiny thing. Guessing itā€™s a power use / amperage thing?

On the bright side, the monitor and the serial connections and the wifi modem all work great!

@xan Yeah, that's the kit computer! Been super curious about S-100 machines too

Ooh, I found a version of Rogue for Z80 CP/M already patched for VT100. (Man thatā€™s such a dork-ass sentence, even for me)

I had a little 8086 palmtop PC in college and I used to play the heck out of Rogue when I was pretending to take notes

(oh hey, I think these are from @acn128 !)

This Z80 CP/M stuff is neat, since it's like a parallel universe to all the computing I did as a kid back in the 80s. I heard a lot about it, but never got to play with any machines that ran it

And I'm super late even to the new-retro scene of CP/M, so there's decades of revival stuff to catch up on :blobsweats:

@skippy We can escape to the one place that the LLMs can't scrape... yet!

@GeoffWozniak I'm gonna turn it off just to feel a thrill

I like computer and computer accessories

Bought tickets to a show 3 months ago, which was exciting. Now it's the night of the show, which is dreadful.

Speaking of which, Front 242 is coming to town in 3 months for their "last show ever" and I'm sorely tempted to buy tickets.

Last time I actually saw them was back at Lollapalooza '93 in Michigan and I've got a scar over my right eye to show for it.

Someone said ā€œmeet cuteā€ and I heard ā€œmeat cubeā€ and thatā€™s all I can think of now

@Daojoan Read this and it hits me right in the feels. What's stopping us from getting back to making that internet? Not even being snarky, because I keep wanting to do it and it ends in a tired sigh before I do anything

@djsundog @Mainebot for a second i was like what's obiwan kenobi doing there, before I realized it was loggins

@offby1 What fantastic worldbuilding! Now I thirst for more exposition about those mounted inflated rubber rings and the intricacies of post-focaccia research & development!

Been getting incessant emails and letters informing me that our oven's warranty is about to run out. Rather than renew it, I think that'll be the date I turn off the wifi connection I've left on for software updates - none of which made me happier we bought this oven.

Not sure how new a feature this is, but I noticed that iOS has been quietly uninstalling apps lately, leaving the icon on the home screen, but with a little cloud picture next to it. I guess it does this when you haven't used it in awhile and the phone's nearly full?

That was super convenient when I haven't taken a bus in awhile and tried pulling up the payment app that I thought I had installed and the re-installation took a full two minutes over terrible cell signal
