Happy Internet Jackass Day to all who observe and take notes
@mos_8502 Whew dang, that dude's not messing around with those particular arcade cabs
@aud Oh yeah, can confirm, that's a spicy meatball :sadness:
@aud I remember the first time I had a spicy pillow battery. Had no idea what I was doing and gave it a poke. Glad I had a window onto a parking lot in arm's reach
Caught up on season 2 of the new Quantum Leap (2022) over the weekend.
Loved the original back in the day even with (or especially because of) how cheesy it could get. The new one inherits a bit of that as a non-remake continuation, but also tries to dip into some popcorn scifi drama involving the support crew back in the "present".
IMO, it's been a pretty good show so far? Also, after Cowboy Bebop and The Sandman, I'm inclined to watch whatever Mason Alexander Park does. (Though they had a bit less of a role, this season)
I hope there's a 3rd season, since they set up a neat twist in the finale. A bit worried it won't come back, since it's not over the top "prestige TV" - it's just... decently good?
Started tinkering with Z80 assemblers over the weekend - and now I don't want to do any modern dayjob computing, I just want to screw around with Z80 assembly
Time to put on a leather apron and work on some handcrafted Personal Computer applications with artisanally-counted cycles
@hotdogsladies Thank goodness there's an alarm bell now, in case anything goes wrong in the apparatus
@joncruz I do kinda want to mess with the 6809 at some point, too. I think that's the CPU in the Vectrex? Got one of those in my basement and wouldn't mind tinkering with some homebrew for it someday
@mediaarchaeologylab the only correct color
@james Hah, I'll have you know that my signing key is never left with a cached passphrase!
(also I'm lying, because I picked a full-on complete sentence as a passphrase per advice I got years ago and I hate typing that every time)
Nice, I finally got a submit batch file to kinda work as a music playlist on my #rc2014 for PT3 files. Not sure what my problem was before, but it worked this time!
Also managed to get Z80 assembly toolchain working this weekend to build the player I'm using.
So, I'm tempted to see if I can learn enough assembly to hack a playlist feature into the player itself. Also might see if I can make the player flash the blinkenlights on the Digital I/O board as a music visualizer and watch for button presses to skip to the next track.
An end goal might be to hook my #rc2014 up to my live streaming rig as a YM2149 chiptune jukebox for background music.
(we'll see if my attention span supports any of this)
I also ordered a SID-Ulator Sound Module kit, though it seems like it'll be more of a challenge to use as a convenient jukebox. Still, seems like it'll be fun to play with
@cwebber get out of my dungeon level!

@benbrown I feel like, for a thing like this, they should have just gone through with it but with an exorbitant price. Worst case, some billionaire with joke money calls them on it and they master a bunch of floppies
