@jpf sounds familiar, but Iโ€™ll have to google it ๐Ÿค”

A thing I just got working: my anbernic gamedad and my gaming PC both run retroarch. They both also run syncthing - as does my NAS.

So, I have โ€œprivate cloud savesโ€ for retro games shared between these two gaming devices ๐ŸŽ‰

@gnomon hmm, i also have muos 11 on RG35XX. WIFI has been fine so far for me ๐Ÿค”

@gnomon ah yeah, i am indeed full of beans

Now I just have to figure out how to liberate a save from this Delta emulator on iOS and load it in Retroarch, if possible. ๐Ÿค”

I can "export" a save from Delta, and exfiltrate it from the phone via iCloud Drive, but that file doesn't seem to do anything in Retroarch

Ope, I might have figured it out? The needful happened somewhere between ensuring the exported save file was exactly named for the ROM, and in exactly the right place, and converted from .sav to .srm

savefileconverter.com

Kinda tricky, but I think I managed to export a GBA save from Delta iOS and got it working shared via syncthing on both PC and ambernic.

And now, apparently, there's Retroarch for iOS? So I'm going to see if I can get a game save shuttling between phone, PC, and gamedad.

I'm sure someone's done this before but it might be worth blogging about

Got up, put moisturizer on my toothbrush and stopped just short of putting toothpaste on my face

Not news to anyone, the YouTube algorithm is garbage. It seems to have a memory of, like, the last 3 things I watched.

But it can't remember that there's a few cooking channels I watch every Saturday or Sunday morning. Or that I catch up with Philosophy Tube every now and then. Or Trash Theory for music nerdery. Or, really, any other channel I subscribe to.

@endomain Well, to be unnecessarily fair, folks were doing that when Google and Wikipedia first appeared. LLMs just make nonsense sounds more authoritatively ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@freeformz SO annoying

@benbrown It's very rad! It's one of the few things that makes me furrow-browed at Firefox for not supporting. Makes so many tinkery things much easier

It's been a few days since I replaced Windows with Pop!_OS from System76 on my couch gaming PC. A bit of adjustment and tweaking, but nothing awful.

All my non-gaming stuff works as before - i.e. web stuff in Firefox, notes in Obsidian, syncthing to shuttle files around

Every game I've tried in Steam has worked, so far. ๐Ÿคž A few in Epic, GoG, and even freebies from Amazon work too.

One major loss is Xbox Game Pass only works as a cloud service. Not surprising, because Microsoft. That'll probably be fine, though? Playing fewer games there lately anyway

Something I wish interviewers would ask more often is along the lines of "What you just said wasn't an answer to the last question. Why did you think that was an answer? Would you like to try again?"

But, like, in a "gentle parenting" tone and not with sarcasm

@randomgeek @bitprophet I could never get into Pyre (too sporty for me) but I was obsessed with Transistor, had the soundtrack on repeat for weeks
