@aronow That's a neat lil astronaut!

@squeevening Oh that's a fun toy!

In between gaming device shenanigans over my past few days of PTO, I also had some outdoor shenanigans.

Cleaned up our little balcony deck. Also sanded, stained, and sealed a weathered old wood table. Wish I’d taken ā€œbeforeā€ photos but šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

It’s funny that my idea of relaxation is to do non-work work on my time off. But, it’s so i can relax better in the future, sitting at a table that’s not succumbing to entropy quite as fast

@voltur it’s been pretty nifty so far! Though admittedly I’ve spent more time tinkering with settings and firmware than playing games. But I didn’t have to do that to get it working, I just did that because I could

I am a little annoyed that it sprinkled rain after I applied the deck oil, so i got water spots. But, i read that i can fix that just by applying more oil to the wood later this summer

This is like how I identify with Nockers in the old White Wolf Changeling RPG, their engineering work always has some little annoying flaw and they swear a lot

Me: (Sitting down with a beer to enjoy my newly tidied deck)
Birds: (Chirping sweetly)
Neighbors: ā€œIT’S GAS POWERED WEED WHACKER LEAF BLOWER TIME MOTHERFUCKERSā€

Though i will say one of my neighbors who moved in last summer murdered his lawn this spring and literally threw it in a dumpster. Replaced it all with native plants, gravel, and planter boxes. I high fived-him last week

It also wouldn’t be so bad if the gas powered lawn tools were a constant noise? But they like to go pbpbpVRRMpbpbVRRMpbVRRRMpbpbpbpbVRRRRRRRM

Like, I get the appeal. I too like to double bzzt the electric drill and double clack the tongs. But maybe go play a video game on headphones or something

@aetataureate thank you! It’s weirdly relaxing being handy sometimes šŸ˜…

@bashley I’ve never found myself capable of a single clack, no. Not sure I’d trust someone who could clack but once

Alright, cool, neighbor chilled it with the whacker / blower (they only have 10 square feet of lawn anyway) now I can continue my conversation with this crow that’s been hanging out

@grs there’s a problematic part of me who daydreams about leaf-blower-seeking munitions
