@sps@historians.social oof, I had never heard of folks hooking up a lawnmower engine to a bicycle, though kind of obvious in retrospect :sadness: @violet @aud
@reconbot An irony is that we're within the PDX city limits, not even the suburbs really. No one has more than a postage stamp of lawn yet still seem to need power tools
@Wrewdison We had "disheveled thomases" the other night made with ground turkey
@maded2 a little vinegar, some ipa, some deoxit, it'll be fine 😬
On the exercise bike, catching up on some recorded meetings from when I was out last week.
Someone said something about “your counterparts” but I heard “your kind of pants”.
This activity may benefit from deferral until after coffee 🤔
Remembered I had our original game boys in the basement. Figured I’d take a few photos comparing the purple plastic of my Anbernic RG35xx H #gamedad to ye olde atomic purple. Also, we like handhelds in this house
I’m also a huge fan of the GBA SP (we accumulated 3 of them, for Zelda Four Swords on Game Cube), so it’s likely I’ll want the new Anbernic SP-inspired #gamedad in the near future too 🤔
@SkipfordJ It's slightly less purple than I'd like, but it is pretty close to the original purple GameBoy Color!
@HeyItsRosie oh, those are neato colors for safaris!
@ricmac My guess would be because sportsbots.xyz looks like a custom bot platform (i.e. it's not a Mastodon bot, it's its own thing)
And follower count can just be a number reported in the JSON in the first page of the collection. Looks like Mastodon instances just trust the followed server for that
@ricmac Yeah, weird thing is that it does seem to also supply the "real" list of followers - of whom there's only about 2501 it looks like?
Is it "Game Boys"? Or "Games Boy"?
@TheBreadmonkey American perspective here: has anyone simply considered riding the cheese down the hill?
@Macross y0, games BOIIIIIIIEEEEE
@unwiredben Is this, like, a depressive German counterpart to Domokun from NHK in Japan?
@puppygirlhornypost this isn't cable management, this is cable infestation
@KevinMarks @jalcine I have a heavier, slightly folding Tern HSD cargo e-bike. (It folds just enough to fit into a smaller car, not nearly as compact as a Brompton.)
That said, a pedal assist bike can easily double or quadruple your range, in my experience. And yeah, hills are easy. (I had a battery run out mid-hill, once, and could definitely sweat the difference 😅 )
It'd be kinda rad, IMO, to grab a bike off baggage claim on a trip and just ride off!
:oof: really wish I could disable opening links in apps on iOS from Firefox. Maybe there's a way?
Best I've come up with is to open a link in a background tab, then it seems to avoid escaping out to an app when I switch to the tab.
@KevinMarks @jalcine of course, most airports aren't really conducive to riding a bike around or away from. So maybe it's a short ride to mass transit and then back to riding :)
I still really want to switch back to android for my next phone. But, this iPhone 13 is still in decent shape and money's better spent elsewhere - so "next phone" time frame is somewhere approaching "once I've used this device to dust with my bare hands"
My AppleCare coverage expired, so maybe this iPhone will self-convert to dust soon on its own?
I've also really been wanting to hunker down on a phone and draw out a next purchase until maybe the fashion of bulbous back camera bumps and front-screen camera carve-outs passed. I don't know if that's ever going to happen though
@rgegriff Hmm, that's a tempting idea too...
Part of me kind of wants to hang onto this device even after getting a new phone though, if only to have a spare iOS device on hand for testing and shenanigans. I'm a hoarder of nearly all my old devices
I love these #3dprinting designs with hinges and such where part of the assembly is just “cram a scrap of filament through here to join the parts”
What if instead of Hogwart's House in bio, you described the nameless shadow nemesis you accidentally summoned while browsing Ogion's spell books, whom you must inevitably someday name and with whom you must eventually merge.
@w8emv I wouldn't mind any number of cameras on the back, if they evened out the rest of the surface. Fill it with battery goo or something, just don't leave a bump-out and call the rest of the device "thin"
@ElleGray this sounds like the start of a great answer for the interview question "how would you write the worst imaginable implementation of fizz buzz?"
while you were partying in the Great Hall in Hogwarts Castle, I was out in the Ninety Isles studying the lore around the true name of this asshole dragon
@mathowie I am in this picture (and I finished the Jenny Nicholson video saturday morning)
@mathowie and also my spouse is far more interested in discussing the Disney Star Wars hotel lore than Dune lore
Man, part of me really wants to try this Bazzite distro on my gaming PC again, because I really like the idea of a "foolproof" immutable desktop install of Linux.
But a) my Pop!_OS install seems to successfully run all the games I've cared to throw at it so far and b) I watched a YouTuber last night run into all the same errors and crashes that I did with Bazzite.
Sounds like maybe they resolved the issues by rolling back a version or two in Bazzite, but it wasn't an encouraging first-time install experience.
Kinda envious of the dual microSD card setup of my #gamedad, where I can stick all the user & game data on card no. 2 while swapping multiple OSes on cards in slot no. 1.
I guess I could maybe get that if I stuck a second SSD in my PC, but I'm not sure it'd be quite as convenient.
@Mxzzyzx you'd have to get a shoulder blade tattoo of the undertomb labyrinth paths that you'd only known by touch for most of your life
@Mxzzyzx Yeah, same same
@jalefkowit "A computer isn't a Game Dad, because it can't fit in your pocket."
