So I was on hold with my doctor's office, jamming out to the hold music. Promptly at 5pm, it kicked me into voicemail. Welp 🤷

As is my wont, I've been puttering around with redoing my blog layout and theme. Probably will rewrite the site generator too.
Tempted to add a "talk to my blog" feature with all the requisite LLM / AI buzzwords in the description but just serve up a JS version of Eliza
Finally accomplished a phone call I put off for about 2 months. Took 10 minutes. My brain is annoying sometimes
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go vibrate in a quiet room for about an hour to recover
@macross Oh, that's a nice lookin one!
Posting lyrics like I'm back on LiveJournal:
"Darling
Just don't put down your guns yet
If there really was a God here
He'd have raised a hand by now"
@Mxzzyzx The recovery cycle is real 😅
@Mxzzyzx Oof, yeah, that's an attack vector I'm privileged not to often encounter.
I think mine is just mostly general & social anxiety, overthinking simulation of the person on the other end of the line in absence of cues beyond audio
@macross You might like this printable grip attachment? I got one for my Nintendo 3DS a few years ago and it helped a bit

@Mxzzyzx Yeah, I'm like... need more input and if I don't get it I'm going to self-generate all possible inputs :blobmelt:
I hate that these sorts of things are reported as "breach" and "attack" and like natural disasters - as opposed to "failure" and "incompetence" and "we accumulated a pile of dangerous toxic explosive material and were negligent in preventing the application of flame to the pile"

That thing when a project's using Slack, GitHub, and Trello and team convention is to manually echo all notifications to all channels in triplicate because no automations or integrations are installed
I've sometimes been spoiled by teams where all the tools are connected and doing a thing in one spot ends up in the inbox of relevant folks and everyone sees & responds per the needful
@wohali Hah, weirdly I have never touched Teams
@wohali Oh, I see, yeah never been on a team that used Teams. I also need some slack today by abandoning Slack
@waxy This kinda feels like the duel in hell in Issue 4 of The Sandman between Morpheus and Choronzon
Haha, this was dumb but fun. I may have cheated just a little bit around the astronomy bits, though.
I came up with this chain of what-beats-what:
one overseas summer romance 🤜 talented human research intern 🤜 successful copyright lawsuit ordering destruction of LLM and training data set 🤜 guardrails and fences to limit LLM responses to verifiable sources 🤜 discovery of LLM hallucinations in research citations 🤜 invalidation of experimental findings 🤜 Landau damping 🤜 transfer of energy to plasma wave 🤜 supernova 🤜 planetary atmosphere formation 🤜 vacuum of deep space 🤜 explosives 🤜 rock
@mkj Yeah, I guess that's the metaphor I'm after there. If you deal with toxic and dangerous materials, you tend to need certain procedures to deal with it and handle it. Also probably don't want to amass a big hoard of it in one place for too long. And if it goes pear-shaped, a shrug is generally not good enough as a response
I kinda want a version of this sort of investigation into data breaches? But, it's not like a data breach causes month-long fires and prompts the evacuation of a 4-mile area around the site
